Does anyone else believe in this? For people who don't know, its basically the belief that what you think about, happens. For example, if you are always thinking about having a big house, you will get one eventually. Its more complicated than that. The book The Secret is dedicated to it and is how i got into it. It happens for good and bad thoughts. Basically, if you are having a bad day and let it get to you, it'll get worse. If you go into a test thinking when you get it back you'll get a bad grade, you'll get a bad grade. Here's a site better explaining it: http://www.submityourarticle.com/articles/Emmanuel-Segui-325/law-of-attraction-1169.php As of today, i am a true believer. I always believed it, but not to the extent that today proved it. It sounds so simple but scared me a little. Basically, when i see nice cars on the road, i text my 2 best friends that i saw them. So yesterday i was thinking about what kind of cool car would be a really good spot. For some reason, unknown to me because i don't like the car, i thought of an SLR roadster. That was yesterday. I live in a decent area but never seen an SLR on the road or anything really close to it. Well, look what i saw this morning.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Of course, its a coincidence. But the fact is that a) I was thinking about the exact car yesterday b) I don't like the car and so it was wierd i was thinking about it and c) What are the chances that a day later i would see one 2 cars in front of me and pull into the gas station OPPOSITE MY APARTMENT. Sure, it was on the way to the Mercedes dealer but i still saw it and if i had been literally 10 seconds later or earlier i would have missed it because i barely spotted it ahead of me (looks pretty boring on the road from behind) Another example that JUST happened. I'm going to work out tonight and i was going to text my friend asking him if 9pm is too late to take my supplement and literally 2 minutes later he texts me asking whats up (i hadn't texted him yet). We talk fairly regularly but the timing was perfect Another..... me and my friend were driving down to Maryland and i told him "i have a feeling we're gonna see a nice Porshce 997". Sure enough, half an hour later a 997 turbo goes by. It was the only exotic car we saw on the whole trip. But for some reason, i knew that we'd see one. I've done this with Ferrari's too (i get that feeling less often ) Another (again, just now).. i was enquiring about an E36 M3 on bimmerforums and i was about to IM my friend who knows about M3's to see if he could come check it out with me. Sure enough, 2 minutes later he IM's me. This could be stretching because he knew (from reading the board) i was interested in the car, but again, the timing couldn't have been wierder. Both this time and the time i was going to text my friend, they contacted me within 3 minutes of me thinking to contact them There have been times where i've been daydreaming about when i get my E36 M3 and one drives by me. Every time, its a car i haven't seen before around here Anyone else believe in this? Its actually becoming a fairly big part of my life. According to the book (The Secret), people have "cured themselves" of cancer and stuff. I'm not sure how much i believe that but Chris
Hahaha, I've always thought I had a sixth sense about cars. When I was in grade school, I decided one day that I was going to see a Viper that day. So my little sister and I went and rode our bikes to Elder Beerman and there was a red GTS in the parking lot. The Elder Beerman parking lot is really tucked back away and doesn't get much business, but I went straight there. Another time, I was waiting in the car while my mom was shopping. Suddenly I just had this urge to get out of the car and watch the road. As soon as I got out, that same red GTS drove by. My little sister and I also used to watch the highway for nice cars on the way back from our music lessons in Indianapolis. By the time we neared Dayton, we were usually tired because chances were, we wouldn't see anything nicer than a Corvette. My little sister was trying to nap but I warned her that she should keep watching, because I just had a feeling we would see a Viper. And sure enough, a blue GTS drove by. I have lived in a suburb of Dayton, OH for 15 years and have seen 4 Vipers over that 15 year span, and 3 of them, I knew I would see before I did. I have other stories like that. I definitely think that your mood will affect things a lot. Like if you go outside in the winter, tightly bundled up but hating the cold, you'll probably get sick. If you go outside wearing nothing but a sweater, but enjoy the cold and the snow, you'll be fine.
Some of these oddities happen to me on occasion. I'll randomly think about something, a song I haven't heard in a long time for instance, and it'll come on the radio. A month or so ago I was talking about Mini Pinchers with my coworkers. That evening I stop by my parents old house to check on things and their neighbors call me over. They found two dogs roaming our yard with no tags, one was a min pin. I've been wanting to call a friend of mine I haven't spoken with since December. Sunday night I'm thinking I need to call him, look at my phone and sure enough he calls me saying he's sitting behind a 599 and wanted to give me a call. Just like you Chris with your friends. He and I usually call one another when we see something.
I never read The Secret but I know when my ex read it, that was pretty much the end of our relationship. She just went off into the deep end about how if she envisions it, it will happen. Well, she envisioned me with Terrell Owens' body, and needless to say it never came.
I love these kinds of threads, because they are so true. The first time I went to Beverly Hills, I couldnt imagine what kind of cars I was going to see. I had heard that there were alot of "nice" cars. The one car I really wanted to see was a Ford GT. On our way back from LAX, thats all I could think about. So we unpacked and headed out to BH. I reached the corner of Rodeo Drive and there at the stoplight was a White/Blue stripes Ford GT waiting to pull out onto Wilshire Boulevard. I was amazed that the first exotic I had seen, happened to be the only one I was dreaming of seeing.. I have been to Beverly Hills 5 times since then. The last trip was mid-February. We woke up early Friday morning to go spotting. I saw hundreds of nice cars driving through "The Hills." We stood along the corner of one a random side street in BH. I had just taken pictures of an original Mecedes 300SL Gullwing that went driving past. My dad in a casual voice says "Theres a Veyron." I jumped so fast it wasnt even funny. I stood there looking, and saw nothing. "WHERE?" I asked. He turns to me and says "Did I say Veyron?, I meant Phaeton." There sat a Volkswagen Phaeton. In a city brimming with Ferrari's and Lamborghini's, my father points out a VW Phaeton. Within a minute of him saying that, an all Black Bugatti Veyron pulls out of a parking lot. I honestly almost passed out. I couldnt believe his mishap was correct. What are the chances? Heres a pic of the Veyron. It turns out to be Simon Cowell's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm like that with songs on the radio. I'll start singing a song that's in my head and a minute or two later it's on the radio.
Hah, that happens to me a lot. I always have songs stuck in my head, and the only way to get it out is to sing it in my head.
I have interesting things like this happen to me but I don't know if there is much meaning to it. It is still interesting though.
I get these sort of feeling all the time, I am a true believer in the fact that if you want something bad enough, you will force yourself to work hard to get it, or it will come to you in some way.
This is total crap. I think about 134282 constantly - every day, all day long. And I haven't seen it in 1,704 days.
You have become one with the car gods. The radio deal happens to me a lot. Maybe are brains can pick up radio frequencies or something?
What about the phantom cell phone vibrations in pockets. I get it all the time. But no one is calling me
What would have REALLY flipped you out is if you thought of that Veyron without the chrome trim piece on the nose and actually saw it! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't think that has happened to me. The closest is when I have dreams and then years later the exact same thing happens (it's always me viewing it from third person point of view and never involved). It's always random worthless stuff. I had a meeting at work last week and my boss and co-worker were talking about one of the assignments and I knew what they were going to say next since I saw it in a dream over 5 years ago (probably back in high school). What I remembered didn't last more than 5-10 seconds, but it hit me. That happens maybe once a year.
Alright this is borderline creepy. After posting in this thread earlier today, I started browsing Craigslist to see if there were any upcoming focus groups. I've been doing them for the past couple of years and it's seriously some of the easiest money I've ever made. I haven't done one in a while so I was wondering if maybe the economic slowdown had something to do with the lack of market research. After a quick browse, I see that there's nothing. Fast forward to 20 minutes ago, I get a call from one of the consumer research groups in the city (I'm in their system) and they signed me up for a $200 group (average group pays $75 for an hour). Weird!
I get paid $3.00 a survey, like 5 minutes of my time, used to make $5. When I first started I was getting unreleased products (Coke Zero, 1.5 years before it came out) and some other stuff that came and went from the market. Now I get so many less surveys from them probably because I don't have time to do them anymore. I love getting never before seen to the public products and testing them out though When I was in high school, we got to use laptops in History class, I would just take my surveys then. If I get another invite, I'll PM you if you want to join.
Definitely, thanks. The groups I do are in person at an office (though I've had in-home interviews before and they pay much better). I've probably done over 50... anything from smokeless tobacco products before they've been released to the public, proposals for new public transportation methods, chewing gum (they paid me $300 to come to my house and talk to me about gum for an hour), household electronics ($200 in home), etc. Easiest money ever.
