    A U.S Spec Berlinetta with 1/4 tank of gas was measured by @INTMD8 to be 3200 lbs. He’s done quite a bit of stuff, which aren’t particularly unrealistic and he still has more to go. With his custom made titanium exhaust, his car is probably around 2950 lbs w/ 1/4 tank of gas.

    With a lighter weight hood, engine lid, fenders, door components (perhaps euro aluminum door with CF lower scoop + CF inner frame), carbon undertray, I think we can get his car down to 2800 lbs.

    That’s a 400 lb difference with a stock-looking interior, AC functioning, and tempered glass all around.

    Perhaps not Tuthill 911k, but would feel adequately capable on the road.

    I agree. None of this will be easy or cheap. But do-able.

    The difference between an F430 and 430 Scuderia is only 200 lbs. There are some slight performance upgrades on paper … 30 hp, faster transmission, etc.. but driving the cars back to back, they feel different enough … you will pay the premium for the Scud if one can afford to.

    Euro doors are not aluminium, if you want to replicate them just chop off the additional steel that was added to the US spec versions in order to meet your crash test legislation.

    I'm sure there are better ways to spend time and money but still worth it to me, I think it's fun :)

    Weighed out a few things recently.

    OE front fenders: 7.6 lbs each

    Undertray:

    *Undertrays are generally fiberglass, but made 3 different ways throughout the years. Traditional fiberglass wet lay-up. SMC fiberglass (smooth double-side). Thicker rubbery fiberglass (smooth double-side).

    -Front bumper left and right small pieces. 1.2 lbs each if SMC fiberglass. 1.4 lbs each if rubbery fiberglass (thicker part).

    -Front bumper larger center piece. Traditional wet-layup fiberglass - 5.8 lbs. SMC fiberglass (double-side smooth) - 5.6 lbs.


    - 2-piece Undertray (largest piece). 98+ updated version (latest version). Rubbery fiberglass. Larger section - 13.6 lbs. Smaller removable section - 4.6 lbs. Total combined - 18.2 lbs.


    *It appears Ferrari is using the more durable rubbery fiberglass for their latest version undertray pieces. This would include the two small front bumper pieces, rear diffusers, and the new design 2-piece large center undertray. I haven’t seen the front center piece in rubbery fiberglass yet.

    I haven’t weighed out the rear diffusers, but they feel pretty light.




    Total undertray weight should be roughly 28-30 lbs depending on material.

    * My July 94 build car had all undertray pieces in traditional wet lay-up fiberglass.

    Something I oddly noticed. You can feel the weight/presence of something even as light as 1.8 lbs. At 1.2 lbs it feels almost as though the item doesn’t even exist. Wasn’t even sure if the scale would pick it up.

    Pre-preg carbon hood from Japan was weighed at 9 lbs btw. That is as you see it without accessories attached.
