Im new on these pages but one thing struck me and thats the different preferences in colour on f-cars. Seems like europeans prefer for the most part red and giallo cars but in the states its more even lots of alloy and black modenas. Here in Europe black and alloy spiders are much cheeper then red and giallo spiders sometimes up to 10-15k. for the same year and miles. People in my ferrari club dont want black or alloy ( I personnally find them fine ). Why the difference ? any comments out there.

There's a saying here "The tall nail gets hammered"

Silvers, blacks, whites and greys blend into the traffic better, to help avoid attention by the law enforcement.

More importantly, the silvers and grey really show the lines of the cars off. That's a detriment in the case of the 360, but in the other models the bright colors tend to wash out the bodywork and hide some of the beauty.

    My opinion.

I'm surprised to find such large differences in price based on color in Europe. In the US, the only "weak" color across the board is Rosso Barchetta (which is actually a personal favorite of mine). Except for that color, and perhaps special-order colors, most Ferrari's sell for roughly the same price, regardless of what the paint looks like.

There is a slight nuance to this: the one color that is a hard-seller is Gaillo Yellow on a 550 / 575. I've seen these command a substantial discount as well. And I'm speaking about more than G-Force / Banana Boat's recent experience.

It's called "Arrest Me!" red. Rolls off the tongue but it's actually true. In our land of speeding tickets being revenue generators for the government, bright red is not the smart color if you want to avoid problems with the police.

I would agree if you're talking about the standard Ferrari red, otherwise known as Rosso Corsa. What a Cop Magnet! :(

On the first leg of the Player's Run through NJ and across NY, the red NSX got some 5 tickets, and the lime green Murcielago it arrived at the first checkpoint with only got 1!

I LOVE Ferraris but don't like red cars-period. I don't wear red clothes, have red bikes, or use red in my designs unless it is blood. Red is “in your face” bold & bad. That dark titanium I've seen a lot lately is very sharp & displays a car’s lines nicely. Black is wicked & slyly aggressive. Yeah.

    Also here from Germany.
I think the above said may be true for 360s, but not for Maranellos. A used 550/575 is imho difficult to sell in red. I've heard this from several sources.

Tom, that is something I have noticed to be true in Calif. as well. 360's and to a bit lesser extent, 355's, seem to do well in the brighter colors but 550 are best in more subdued colors. Maybe color is a function of the form or character of the stying of the car. For instance, my girlfriend has a bright blue late 60's Karmann Ghia with a white top. It suits the car perfectly and is a very stylish and happy looking car. Put that combo on most cars however and they would look ridiculous.
