I'm not 100% sure but I believe SF90s are built on the V12 line. In any case, there are always some V8s on the V12 line because they make more V8s than V12s.

I wonder if we will start seeing dealerships pop up near ski resorts to support this segment

Ferrari of Vail has a nice ring to it

The saddest thing about this story is not the design, because it doesn't matter, it's expendable...the saddest thing is that they produce an SUV that has no real use other than a Macan for those who have a large family.
No "real" sporting vocation for a car weighing more than 2 tonnes with such a center of gravity.
But there is even sadder ... It is that customers buy it!
Ultimate confirmation of a drift of the brand that only produces "image cars" and heavy GTs...

I suspect once you open the front door there will be a latch/handle on the facing side of the rear door to open it “suicide door” fashion.

Yes and no. I agree with your sentiment, but I believe there will be a lot more use than you’d imagine.

But…….they absolutely will measure up to the “utility” for which they are named.

Frankly speaking, at posted speed limits these “sports car-electronic active suspension” SUVs are more than adequate and can be quite fun to throw around.

No, not the Bentley/RR more luxury types but if the PS is even half the car that the Cayenne GTS was/is, it will we’ll be absolutely well worth the exercise. And I base that on my wife’s Porsche ’13 GTS, which arrived 3 months after my Carrera S (‘13). The first time I drove her car I thought I may have bought myself the wrong car. She drove that car for 100,000 miles and absolutely refused to trade it in for years until the maintenance and wear and tear became too much. Same holds for her Levante GTS which I tracked once following my son in my F12.

And I live in the country where I can and routinely drive my SF 150 mph+ every time I take ‘er out. I dare to say the majority of Ferrari customers live in urban/suburban neighborhoods where throwing around one of these brutes in “sports mode” will more than provide a thrill.

As far as the looks- I’m an Aston fan and any more design poaching a la Roma I’d welcome. IMO where the design team erred is in putting those god awful buttresses on the GTS and referencing the Daytona…..shoulda copied the AM Volante treatment of the rear instead of an entry level Ferrari…..but I digress and yes I’m sure your wife is beautiful………

will you be sad if they takes some of the profits from the utility vehicle and improve quality and give you an F8 replacement with 1000 hp for $350k base?

Ferrari doesn't need SUV money to produce another car, that's a fact.
It is just stock market logic, if the bet succeeds.
The replacement for the F 8, you have it in front of you, it's the 296.
1000 hp, no thank you, it's totally useless, and straight line dragsters don't interest me.
As you see, I have many reasons to be sad about what this brand has become.

I am surprised to read some things here based solely on a poor quality spy photo.
Ferrari has always evolved according to the market. If Ferrari wants to continue to exist, it is necessary to adapt and sell. To prevent a customer from heading for the Urus, the SUV type is necessary for the brand. Adapting does not mean losing your soul and Purosangue will be a real Ferrari.

Low, small, light, fast and powerful, two seater with superb handling and highly emotional racing heritage: this is what a Ferrari should be.

Looking at this Purosangue I don't see all those features: nor the half.

    Ciao

To avoid a customer heading for a Volxwagen Golf, I suggest they also make a compact city car !

Simple generic sales pitch meaningless for someone who wants to sell a car...
Reminds me of the stupid " fun to drive ".
As for the soul, it's been some time since she left Maranello to settle comfortably on the Milan stock exchange !

100%, this should be a Ferrari not just an automobile. Ferrari is race bred, design centric and always art+performance, lets not forget this. Please, if you are not familiar with Ferrari's form the 50's, 60's and 70's you need to be, they are not just cars, they are soulful, beautiful, emotional racecars for the street!

Ferrari needed to lead, not follow. They needed to design a four passenger car that does not exist today. The FF was just that when it came out, a combination of a sedan and wagon mixed together, but Ferrari's take on this segment, yes, a form of a shooting brake, but it was different and it looked like a Ferrari.

The Gemera is that to me, a true sports car with 4 seats. Ferrari is missing an opportunity to create a market, not just follow a market.

Just in case you guys do not fancy viewing the vintage cars, he is a selection of some of the history that makes Ferrari like no other, not sure the Purosangue will ever make this lineup...

Passion, race, performance, form, detail, art, coveted and at the time ahead of the rest.

You nailed it, Ferrari should be making something as creative and forward thinking as the Gemera! Not a Maserati SUV with new front and rear styling.. But sadly Ferrari these days rarely, almost never lead in area of engineering, they almost never build "production" cars using advanced exotic materials which other brands do for the same money or less..

Every Mclaren's has a carbon tub - Only the limited "super Ferrari's" have them, and they cost 1 million dollars plus and you have to be invited to buy. And for context, the Alfa Romeo 4C had a carbon tub, and its almost 10 years old and cost $75k. The new Maserati MC20 also has a carbon tub, but the new 296 GTB doesn't, but costs more ( it can come with crappy stuck on, non weight saving or structure bearing carbon body decoration parts and interior inlays, for an extra $50k)... !!

Cosworth developed a naturally aspirated 4 litre V12 engine for the Gordon Murray T50, that revs to 12,100rpm, and a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 for the Aston Martin Valkyrie that will rev to 11,100rpm . The Ferrari's V12 does 9500rpm!

The 296 is not the last car, and it is kind of small for the well fed customers
There will be something after the F8
I don’t run the company but with McLaren to deal with, HP is going up
People love precedent, Porsche did great with their utility vehicles, folks are clamoring for the Ferrari take on it so here it comes
A lot of folks are hooked on these utility beasts so FF and Lusso didn’t address the ask
I don’t like SUVs, I stopped being bothered by them and focus on the cars I like

They have the power of the brand to back them, brand equity like no other, this gives them the ability to make as many mistakes as they like and they will still be on top, until they are not!

They need to be better before it is to late!

The front and side profile don't look real in the photo to me. I believe the rear image however feels real. I know there are a couple of people here who have seen the final design can one comment on the photo in some way please. The Wheels look to small and the Wheel arches are just nasty. something thing just doesn't feel right here.
