An old topic well covered in this thread. The reason for why it can be regarded as a sacrilege has been well stated by various Ferrari executives back in ‘15/‘16. But financially (for shareholders, not for the buyers…) it makes sense…. I understand many of us will be buying one, but I won’t….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This post of the car in what we must presume is final form which with a minor photoshop tweak reveals the entire front is without doubt due to the factory leak. The odd and peculiar "(some of them)" connotation in the post is also just, odd... They have in my memory never teased a car as openly as this before, nor as early (Q4 official unveil per my info). Listening to journalists attending the 296 media test days on the day of the leak, they told stories about chaos ensuing among the Ferrari marketing people as it happened.
That front reminds me of the first Cayenne, that looked like a 911 above a truck. This is the same but with a SF90. BTW, where are the headlights?
Riiiiiiiiiiigght…when you own the most valuable badge in the world… and ANYTHING with that badge on it sells like hot cakes…the smart decision would be … from what you’re saying … to use something OTHER THAN that badge on a product you intend to generate the majority of your revenue. Ok…wow.
Enzo has always made luxury cars to finance racing. He’d be just fine Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I am not against the PS. If I had to guess though … and that’s all we can do … my guess would be that Enzo WOULD be against it. In fact it is my own personal belief that LDM was pushed out because he was philosophically against this vehicle, and his values were instilled in him by The Man himself.
We can only speculate on what Enzo would think about the Purosangue. Yet we know what he said when in 1969 millionaire collector and casino owner Bill Harrah asked him to build a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Enzo's answer was a resounding NO which didn't stop Harrah who ended up building the Jerrari with his mechanics (Jerrari is a funny blend of a 365 GT with a Jeep Wagoneer).
I think it is bending the truth to say Enzo always made luxury cars to finance racing. He made sports cars. Emphasis on car. An SUV is a road vehicle but it is not a car.
I am saying this as a huge fan of Manzoni and Centro Stile … and as someone who wasn’t originally … but now for a few years has been … in favor of the Purosangue … can somebody please stop this man from putting an F1 style wing blade design element on the front of all these regular series production road cars. It was a stretch to put it on the SF90 and it is an absurd farce to put it on an SUV. This F1 front wing blade design element belongs ONLY on a hyper car or at a minimum a Versione Speciale, nothing less extreme or sporting. Stop the madness.
As a marketer myself pleasing to see them respond by making the most of the situation with this teaser initiative and making the top Ferrari customers feel special even if they are not interested in a FUV (although they and myself included will of course purchase the V12 PS). Not sure what else they could have done apart from hunt down the leaker!!
I agree. Everyone knew that leak was genuine. It is genius to position the V12 at first as top client only car. What it really means is top clients feed first and then other clients who raise their hand straight away and firmly go next. And that might be all there is to go around. If, as a practical matter, they can only produce 1,000 ish V12 of the PS per year for the entire world and only for a few years before regulatory restrictions kick in … it is conceivable they could … by the end of this year … have sold the entire production run out completely ( of the V12 ). I think they ARE gettable by non top clients but interested buyers should cozy up to their dealers and express firm desire and commitment to the vehicle now-ish in order to secure an allocation. I don’t think there will be any special buyer criteria. I think you just have to make a firm commitment for an order now-ish, sight unseen-ish. I will make this prediction…those who wait for the first journalist drive review of the V12 … will jaunt down to their local dealer only to be told no more orders will be taken by the factory for the V12. I predict the entire run of V12 PS will be completely sold before the first Chris Harris drive.
Although at the moment it's impossible to evaluate seriously the design of the Purosangue as a whole, if the front is what we see in this picture it looks like something deja vue. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The first cars with the big engine will be on clients hands end 2023-2024. My doubt is if by that time, in Europe, due to regulations you can not sell a V12 that is not hybrid. We can compare to Lamborghini, who has successfully escaped the GPF (gas particulate filter) for the Aventador Ultimae, unlike 812 GTS/Competizione. And the substitute of the Aventador it IS a hybrid. That what´s make me think Purasangre should also be hybrid even in the first halo cars V12 Also by 2024 in some European city centres you might have trouble circulating with a non-hybrid... are they going to build a family car that can not entre in the city centres like London?
What I'm trying to say is that IMO no 2 Ton+ SUV should have a Ferrari badge on it. It'll sell like hot cakes and to a new demography albeit with some brand dilution. Ferrari is all about specialness which distance it from lower rung sport cars makers such as Porsche. Once any car company becomes a public listed one happy shareholders takes priority over customers and brand ethos. FWIW I own cars from both the above brands and can say the same about Porsche once they got gobbled by by a corporate monster like VAG. No wonder used 812SF prices are now rising to the moon.
Too late, local dealer already indicating Roma purchase is prerequisite to get your order in the queue...
I've commented on this over the recent years, enough already of wanting every F-car nose resemble an F1 nose!
Oh you mean the ‘beautiful Ferrari’ that everyone pressured Ferrari into making is selling so slowly that they have to incentivize it’s purchase? Lol
I don’t agree that it is going to dilute the brand. At all. Ferrari is going to make this thing kick ass. With that being said, I agree that there is SOMETHING about the Purosangue which subconsciously gnaws at all of us. Which I will explain further in a future post.
