    Black is not slimming, hides curves and a royal PITA to keep clean in an SUV.

    Black is hard to keep clean on any car, not just an SUV…. :)

    Agree that if you're driving the car normally, or as a daily, CF doesn't make much sense on the Purosangue.

    Would you do outside CF if you're getting one of the initial ones, especially if a V-12 that is then not offered on the regular production runs?

    Nero Daytona, Nero Setoso or Nerotto come to mind


    Not sure on the CF yet in general. I suspect the V12 will be visually distinguished from the other from the get go but like other “sport” suvs one may need a PhD in Porsche Ferrari design language to do so.

    The Lusso T was only distinguishable by the wheels

    Well, this and the fact that we received an official email from Ferrari saying their new "thoroughbred" car is having a V12.

    It having a V12 is old news, most have know this fact for quite sometime.
    The question on alot of peoples minds has been the size of the V12 due to the front being smaller than the lusso. Many are thinking maybe it will be a smaller V12 like 4L. My observation about the massive dash shows hope it will be a Big V12, 6L like it should be.

    Ok I understand what you meant. Im curious how much shorter would a 4L V12 be vs a 6L. For the same stroke, the cylinders only have to be 22% wider to account for a 50% displacement increase. From the 94mm bore from the 812SF, this would take it down to about 77, so 10cm shorter overall. But they would also most probably reduce the stroke in order to keep it supersquare. So overall length difference would be less than 10cm I assume.

    Personally that's just to much Time, development cost etc for them to really consider. It would affect sound, performance, nor would the customer base be happy with it. Then as you have shown it won't make much difference on size. So based on all the factor it will be in the 6L range. which makes me very happy. Then the Next question is will the other version be hybrid V8/V6 or both?

    Why would they want an oversquare bore on an SUV though? I would think on an SUV they would want the increased torque of a longer stroke with smaller bore, which also decreases engine length.

    The first picture was taken yesterday outside Maranello's factory and it's of a Purosangue mule on a Levante body with a higher ground clearance than that seen on the last version of the mule and also on the older versions with the Levante bodies. Being a mix of a sports GT a Crossover and an SUV the Purosangue will have to be able to adjust the ground clearance substantially in order to cope with the very different driving conditions. I don't see how that can be done without using an air suspension but I wait to see what they come up with because Ferrari is well known for its inventive and unorthodox solutions.

    I would imagine to keep it high rev, as this is an expectation from the customers? Also, big bore means big valves and more air/fuel mix.

    I would be very surprised if they would change their tried and tested formula. My guess is they are going to take the 812 engine and wet sump it and lower the redline to 7700-8000 rpm.

    This is what Ferrari has been doing with its V12 GT cars. It was the same with the FF and GTC4Lusso, both had wet sump versions of the F12 V12 with reduced redlines. I believe this tones down the manic free revving nature of the V12 in the 2 Seater cars and also reduces the wear/stress on the engine making it more reliable.

    Both FF and Lusso have dry sumps though. They also had the exact same bore x stroke than the F12. The California had a wet sump. Not sure about the Portofino.

    Apologies, I was clearly mistaken! I thought all GT Ferrari cars had wet sump engines.

    Hell freezes over before Ferrari will develop a new (smaller) V12 engine in the current political climate.
    It would be an insane cost to do so for a very limited time.
    They will keep the current V12 with perhaps few very, very small changes; if any.

    An overweight freak and 100% pointless. No owner will ever take it off road, so its high centre of gravity is for absolutely no reason at all. It's a mini van but with a bit more clearance... Sad and bizarre times.
