Let's put a stone on our previous posts and go on: we are all Ferrari enthusiasts, let's talk about cars. I'm sure we share more or less the same opinions and we could have a very nice time together during a dinner here in Maranello. If and when you will visit our territory, please let me know. Ciao
My first impression of the Purosangue is quite positive as it is by no means an SUV but a successful evolution of the Lusso with a very appealing design. Regarding the V12 engine with 725 HP, it seems to me that it fell short of the expectation that it was an 812-type engine with at least 800 hp. Make no mistake, the V12 that equips the Purosangue is an innovative engine, with cylinder heads derived from the 812 Competizione, and which develops 80% of its torque at 2100 rpm. The Manettino is one of the curiosities that reconfirms that the Purosangue is not an SUV. It has no off-road settings and the driver can switch between Wet, Comfort, Sport and ESC off modes. The Purosangue also does not use a four wheel drive system but an evolution of the 4RM-S that equips the Lusso. It has Four-wheel steering, ABS Evo with 6-way Chassis Dynamic Sensor already introduced on the 296 GTB. The suspension is not what I was expecting. It's a unique active suspension that makes its debut in the Purosangue. Its inteded to control body roll in corners as well as the contact patch and over bumps to deliver the same performance and handling as Ferrari sports cars. Combines an electric motor with 48 Volt actuators to a hydraulic shock absorber to ensure high frequency response. I'm also positively surprised with the uncompromising aerodynamics applied to a vehicle with higher ground clearance. Apparently in the case of the Purosangue the goal is not maximum downforce but the mix of efficiency, comfort and stability. The Purosangue has several aerodynamic features that serve different purposes but an interesting one are the front hood aerobridges similar to that of the F12. Those, however, are used to reduce drag (and not for downforce) and work together with the channels that from the sockets near the headlights reach the praise on the wheel arch. The Purosangue front doors are conventional and the rear doors are suicide like a Rolls-Royce or a Mazda RX-8. I confess that these types of doors still seem strange to me and I still prefer conventional doors.Inside the Purosangue is a strict four-seater apparently with easier access than the Lusso. Once again Ferrari is to be congratulated because the Purosangue is in fact a FUV that does not disappoint.
Ferrari 2022 ...just add weight (2.2 tons?) price @ 500K++ ...sold out for 3 years? Looks like they handed the design brief to those muppets on the F1 strategy team... Straight onto the Seriously Uncool Board ..joining the Proton Savvy ,Citroen Picasso,Nissan Micra...anyway..
In pictures it's disappointing: maybe it's different in real life, but at present it reminds me a mix between a Zonda and an Huayra dreamed during a nightmare. I hope to change my mind soon as I always appreciated what Pagani produced up to now. Ciao
Can you imagine a 20 year old PS with 55K miles on it? Nightmare after nightmare waiting to be unleashed... (meanwhile a 2003 CayenneS probably still runs fine...)
Exactly! You know nicely optioned this “daily driver” will be ~$550K. And if it has more than 10K miles on it...forget it.
I agree that PROBABLY it won't be as reliable as a Cayenne, but if you can pay 0.5 M for a car, maybe you can afford fixing it too. And don't forget there is a warranty too. Ciao
The same people who can't make an F1 gearbox pump run more than 10,000 miles want to put an electric hydraulic pump on every wheel. Just sayin'.....
It's official, Puro needs a lift kit! [emoji2] Do we know if there will be the capability to adjust ride height? T
I have to say that I’m happily surprised. I did not expect such a nice package: elegant styling (for an SUV), V12 NA, luxury, … Not everyone buying a Ferrari wants a 488, a Pista, an SF90, … I don’t. Many of us are GT people, some of my favorite Ferraris include the 612, the FF/Lusso, the California/Portofino, the 812, … The brand needs to cater to all his potential customers, not just the « purists ». Hey, even Mr. Enzo Ferrari himself loved driving a Ferrari with 4 real seats (his daily driver). I congratulate Ferrari for offering various types of exquisite vehicles that appeal to different segments of the population!
The suspension is built by Mutimatic with Dynamic dampers of their design. These are proven technology so it is one less thing for Ferrari to mess up.
Of course it will be Do you have to take the fun from the discussion? When I saw the stuff about a motor on each corner of the suspension I was like, ooh I want to see what that costs to replace Look at the misery the California owners have with this, that and the other thing
I have to admit I was expecting 800hp but now when I think it wake sense to lower the max hp in order to make a tourque available in low rpm, And still to keep power curve progressive. Because with fluids, passengers and luggage it is a 2.5t car, so it needs a low rpm pull to be at Ferrari level. Regarding the design I have to admit it looks better than expected. Price is 100 000 to much, But I guess they follow the logic of RR doing with C over Benteyga So they do the same to them, Lambo and AM. And, they are sure they will sell every single one so they where just like " why wouldn't we. If you remember the original price for LaFerrari, it was much cheaper than various other brands asking a couple of M for their hypercars. I guess we would never see any limited hypercar from Ferrari for less than 1 or maybe 2 mill.
Breaking News: As heard at 9:20 Central time this morning - Fox News reported that the new Ferrari SUV will go from 0-60 in 30 seconds.
How is telling the truth taking "fun" out of the discussion. If someone likes smoking cigarettes, its not a good idea to discuss lung cancer?
I kinda remember the 458 gearboxes being made by Getrag in Germany. Very well respected. How did that work out for them in the first couple of years?
