Probably they are but they keep us entertained. In four years time when the FUV is expected to be launched if I'm still around I promise I'll go through all the renders that have been posted here and find which is the one that looks alike more with the real thing.
Yikes. C'mon. It's all in good fun. Who knows what this thing will look like, but I for one can't wait to see which of Mario's renders looks closest to the real deal. Love it or hate it, if and when the FUV is released, it's gonna blow up F-chat! [emoji2] Everyone will have an opinion. Everyone...T
btw, I got a Urus a few weeks ago and it is amazing. soooo fast and sounds great. I like an SUV as my everyday vehicle and it's damn good for that role. I'm not sold on the looks, but it's pretty good in every other category. I hope Ferrari beats it on the performance and looks
The new FUV is expected to be launched only in 2022 and that's a long time from now. By then there is a very strong possibility that the Urus successor will be already on it's way and that's the one the Ferrari Purosangue will have to beat in every department.
I have kept on telling myself to stop clicking on this thread and just waiting for the final design to be released...
The Purosangue will be launched during 2022 therefore it will be a long waiting time until we can put our eyes on a final design.
Picture 1) compares the first mule which was spotted last July with the standard GTC4. Like someone already referred the mule's suspension travel looks a lot greater than the one on the standard GTC4, judging by the flare of the wheels arches. Picture 2) compares the mule spotted this month testing at Nurburgring with the standard GTC4 and the suspensions travels look very similar. Like it or not (and I don't), the Ferrari SUV is coming and imho already has a tall order to fill. The Urus is a beautiful SUV, probably the most striking Super-SUV out there right now. Even I, who like SUVs for everyday driving but object to the notion of a brand like Ferrari making one, have to say I love it. Fluid, striking, potent lines and curves. A design statement. I looks desirable and fast from the get-go, even if it's standing still. I assume the Urus is being taken into serious account by Ferrari, once I expect the new SUV and the Urus will compete for the same market niche and roughly the same price tag. Lamborghini has set the tone with the Urus (something I wish Ferrari did - if you're going in such a controversial way, at least be the one who sets the pace, be first!), and I hope Ferrari "counter attacks" with another supreme design statement. I'm not all that worried in terms of performance, because although I very much prefer a good old internal combustion engine, even if it's a hybrid of some sort, it'll be extremely fast. It might be interesting to see if Ferrari launch a hybrid SUV, how it will sell compared to the internal combustion engined Urus. For some it won't be even an issue upon buying the car (some people don't care very much about engine type and/or powertrain at all), and for more conservative others it'll be a no-brainer: gasoline above hybrids, manuals above automatics (although it seems pretty clear to me manuals are dead and buried for good). Only time will tell and I have a lot more questions than answers, but it has been a pleasure debating this issue and learning with you, gentlemen! Kind regards, Nuno.
I didn't like the Urus at all when I saw it. It looks like an Audi with a Lamborghini body kit. I think this is what Ferrari absolutely must avoid. It cannot look like another model that has been altered to this role. I really don't care for SUVs though. The only ones I think look very good right now are the Range Rovers- they are mostly very sharp looking. I agree with you about being first. Indeed, Lamborghini's launch slogan was something like "we did it first". I guess Ferrari could say "he who laughs last, laughs best"
Hmm, I actually think all the testing above is for an upcoming 4wd LussoT, or V12 HGTE, or V8 HS. Think about it, if they are going to not release the SUV/FUV till 2022 they need a serious stable of product to keep the 2+2 going. So that means possibly introducing a few variants or special packages.
I still believe anyone thinking Ferrari are going to realease an “SUV” or a truck like the Lambo Ureter will be disappointed. They’ve said they aren’t making an SUV but an FUV also have said they won’t make a truck.
When I started this thread in December 2017 the question I asked was will Ferrari be building an SUV ? One of the first answers to this question was posted by Jerry (Caeruleus 11) " ….. I think you should make a "LWB" version of the GTC4. Maybe 4" longer- all for the back seat- and maybe 1.5" higher and you could add back doors- perhaps in a way where they are more disguised than in other cars. This would not be an SUV, but simply a little bit more practical GTC4 (a practical car already). And please keep the V12". To me Jerry's forecast about how the new car will be made a lot of sense and when Ferrari announced in 2018 that it wouldn't be an SUV but an FUV it made even more sense. In the meantime I've been trying to find a picture showing a lifted GTC4 in order that we could have an idea how this "LWB" will look. I didn't find any pictures of a lifted GTC4 but I found one of a FF with larger wheels which I post below next to the one of a non lifted standard car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
By which time this thread will be 500 pages of discussion. About an SUV. From Ferrari. We’re our own worst enemy...no point in moaning that Ferrari is about to built a car they said they would never build - our interest proves that we’re as much a cliche as Porsche and Lamborghini customers. A little part of me is sad about that, but given they said it will be groundbreaking, I will no doubt be unable to resist. Maybe. As for the renders, they are about as unimaginative as it gets sorry to say. Better to try and think what new features could justify Ferrari’s claims about this car. How about a body design that could accommodate adjustable ride height for starters? Or perhaps a new seating layout; diamond 4 for instance? A bit mad perhaps but they obviously have something unexpected up their sleeve.
