Ferrari road CAR division. Not Ferrari road TRUCK division.

I used to post often in the F1 forum, a long time before you joined this site in fact. But that doesn't really interest me much now as i now work with the FOM, so i try to have a break from F1 during my down time.

LOL, it’s not a “Truck”. Don’t be so dramatic

paulchua is right. You might want to check your Ferrari history. They’ve always offered luxury touring cars. It’s just that SUVs didn’t exist back then so this is a natural progression with modern times.

Also, they prototyped a 4 door car that was more “accessible” back in the 80s. Turns out, the Purosangue isn’t really that radical and we can all just relax. Enzo probably would be fine with the concept just as he was in the past

But I get it. Ferrari lost its way and companies should never evolve. Ferrari should go back to carbureted engines and drum brakes just the way Enzo liked them!

It carries all disadvantages of a truck - weight, high ride height, high centre of gravity and poorer aero dynamics.. But none of the advantages - off road abilities , towing abilities and loading space.
So it has all the disadvantages for absolutely no reason that i can see.

Let me ask you this, what makes you consider a car a truck? Like what are your red lines?

To me, I don't care if you call it a van, jeep, truck, or jalopy. I just look at lap times.

    What do you look at?

So that means Lambo Veneno is a truck. (It's longer and wider)

The Rimac is a truck (it's way heavier)

The M5 is a truck (it has less cargo space then the PS)

The drag coefficient of an F50 is .38 (so it's a truck)
No off road capabilities? Have you read any of the reviews? This is not meant to go build a log cabin, but snow. Do you understand what AWD is?

Just because you don't like it, don't assume others' won't. In fact, based on order books, many have already disagreed with you with their pocket books.

The Lambo Veneno is a 2 seater super car, the PS is not. Doesn't compare.

The Rimac is a 2 seater full electric super car with big batteries, the PS is not. Doesn't compare.

The M5 is a mid sized sports saloon, the PS is not. Doesn't compare.

Agree on the first 2… but a M5 you could probably compare… especially a wagon one.

PS isn’t exactly meant to be an off roader… mid sized sports saloon that sits up a little higher

Actually, not anymore. Yes it was exactly that before. But now the goal is to be a profitable company, as much as possible. Stock exchange and all. Presence in F1 helps that goal. Purosangue helps that goal. That's it.

Their is currently no M5 ( F90) wagon/touring/estate. Their might be one coming. Their is an M3 touring (G80/G81).

And you correct and backing up my points. The PS is not an off roader, but sits higher and is very heavy for absolutely no reason.

LOL people just use the truck word to be derisive. I’ve driven trucks all my life. This is obviously not a truck. Anyone who says it is a truck knows it is not a truck. They just hate it and use hyperbole to drive home the fact that they hate it.

Lots of things have changed over the past several decades. Even Ferrari.

How long since the Cowboys won a Super Bowl for instance? :)

Thats just the way the whole market is moving. The ‘sedan’ market has been growing into crossover type SUV’s for more than a decade. It’s not about off-roarding, consumers just prefer the higher ride height and more cargo space.

Read this, same thing at the low end of the market:

You are correct. Marchionne even threatened to leave F1 during the last Concorde agreements. I admit, it's part of my 'romanticism' to think Ferrari is here for F1 and not the other way around; what can I say? Part of me is in denial il Commendatore is no longer with us.

A thought experiment; if Ferrari were to leave all racing, isn't it like Nike no longer involved in sports?
Nike would just become L.A. Gear or British Knights.

I think the two elements (racing+NYSE: RACE-Ferrari) are inextricably linked.

Exposes the irony of @Chicko expository; he clamors for the hard-core Ferrari bona fides yet doesn't say a word about the F1 division. It's like whinging the latest Air Jordans are cringe, yet nary a comment on the shoes' performance on the court. It's complaining about the thread counts on a jersey without any comment on the players that wear them. The critique on superficiality is painfully shallow itself. I'm baffled by the lack of self-awareness.

I've posted this before, but for reference THIS is a truck. [emoji2] That's a tired trope in terms of the Puro.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Puro is not a truck, it's a 4 door lifted GTC Lusso with the size of a Porsche Cayenne and the cargo space of a Porsche Macan.

Our Cayenne is probably the best all-purpose vehicle we've ever owned. Double the number of cylinders, maintain the NA engine, add in Ferrari's trick new suspension and I can only imagine that the Puro will be a great option for Ferrari enthusiasts who want a great option when conditions won't with for sportier models.

I just don't have any interest in discussing F1, or anything else for that matter with you now, it just escalates into your drivel. Please also refrain from projecting your own assumptions about what you think i know or believe.

As i said, I currently work for the FOM, so I'm not going to comment on a public forum about Formula One.

Perfectly said... although I thought the size was closer to Macan than Cayenne? Didn't realize it was that big

Invited by dealer to see the Purosangue yesterday. For my taste, the display car had very attractive exterior styling lines. The interior also was attractive to my eyes. The front seats were very comfortable and with good head clearance, the rear seats rather firm in the way some BMW rear seats are not anticipated for long rides. Rear doors are front opening. Trunk opening and storage space very sizeable.

Overall, the Purosangue seems very similar to me to the Aston Martin DBX except for the rear door opening direction, the wheel surrounds, and availability.

Dealer indicated willingness to take deposit on expectation that delivery was three years away.

Oh I see, you are not allowed to talk about performance. Is there a clause from Liberty in your employment that prevents you from discussing teams? You must be high up because team principles don't have any such restrictions. Are you part of the board? I have a friend on the board, what's your name? Feel free to IM me. We should get together.

That makes sense now why you can only talk about how fake/bad/poor a shoe is, and can say nothing about the performance of the players wearing them.

    Appreciate the clarification.

Just using your definitions my man. You said size, weight, Cd, and limited cargo space (not me) are what defines if a car is a truck. So I gave you 4 example sports cars that are bigger, heavier, more drag, and have less space than the PS. (one that happend to make 20+ world records recently)

That's all, just playing by *your* rules. Don't be tweaked that your own definitions are incoherent.

    ***

You pooh pooh Ferrari having gone superficial.....by disliking the PS on how it looks. Just think about that one moment.

I have not seen any stats yet, so you might be right. Until then I can't fully judge. I never ascertain the 'sportiness' of a car by how they look, I simply look at timeslips and who wins.

It's the first thing you learn on the track. Consider this free advice before you get embarrassed by the 'ugliest' car that also so happens to be the fastest/best handling vehicle on the race track.

I didn't say the FOM employs Team Principles. Principles are constrained by specific rules agreed upon by FOM and FIA, most recently the eighth Concorde agreement. So given that Toto Wolf can say he thinks Team A or Team B is doing well or not well, I'm surprised Toto can say this, but you can't. I only assumed you are very high up. If you say Ferrari is doing poorly, it would shake the ground, and everybody would look and raise an eyebrow.
