You are more than welcome and vice versa, like you I love delving in boxes of bits and finding some treasure
The good thing about 80s/90s Ferrari's is that the actual components once found are pretty basic and easy to refurbish to a very nice standard. I love that its a soft top and would also love to see the faces on the Ferrari owners stand at something like the Silverstone classic if you pulled up in its current rat state!
Yes it will one day My problem is I just cannot decide on colour, I change my mind one week to the next
Had to do a bit of repair work. When I put the steering column plastic surround cover in place I must have nicked a wire and broke the solder joint. This was part of the switch gear. Well one happened to have a spare complete switch gear kicking around, as you do ! Only issue was one of the arms (indicator) had broken. The gear on the Ratarossa was quite rusty and clunky when using, so instead of soldering the wire back I decided to change over the indicator arm onto my spare switch gear, and then install that assy instead. No mean feat, bloody fiddly little job. But with some patience I got there in the end. Well it’s a big improvement the movement is much more smooth. Finishing some jobs off I had started and not completed. First, bleeding brakes. As per before I’ll do some hose upgrades. Have already done the front pads. But just want to get these working fine as standard form first as a basis to start upgrading. Treating the bleed nipples to some new rubber caps (previously missing) Lots of bubbles today, which is a good thing expelling the air from the system Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
While I have drivers front wheel off, I’m fitting the new clip for the AC rad sensor to hold it in place Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I also must have forgot to spray this wheel arch, so have given it a protection coat of underbody black Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Playing around with the old parcel shelve. Will flip it around upside down, trim it down so it looks better then remount the luggage straps. Don’t really plan these jobs, just play around with leftover original panels until I’m happy the look right and that’s the fun of this project. Impending job to fit the fuel filler in wing cutout. Need to cut into the rear wheel arch slightly. Do you guys think this will leave enough wheel/suspension travel ? Remove the springs and run the suspension threw full travel. I do this when building my hot rod to make sure nothing crashes.
Starting to work on interior screen trim. Quite a bit of modification required as being a US car it came with the retractable seat belt mech part of which contained the runners behind the screen side trims, so they don’t simply clip in place. If I lived on the other side of the pond, I would beg to come by and see the "rat". The transformation is amazing.
The 'Rat' was the nickname for Niki Lauda. He won the WDC (world drivers champion) F1 in 75,77 and 1984
You would be most welcome come visit the project. I am really hoping to get it semi- ready to be at least driving and able to go out to at few events here in the UK this summer
