Ran my 87 US. around for two weeks with just headers, ran fine. Boy was it loud.
I ran up my TR without the exhaust too, sounded like there was a Spitfire in my garage. Awesome noise, but not brave enough to take it out on the road.
As you say try running with everything disconnected and see if the ECU spits its toys out or not. If all is fine, then crack on. But as an alternative, what about getting UK headers? Thus in theory saving on fabrication etc. and its then just a straight bolt on job, assuming as you mention that the mounting brackets for the muffler are there. Not sure how price would compare?? Also just noticed that the pipe dia at the end of the headers looks like it could be different between US and UK? Looking at the US pic, and I assume the one with the four cast is the US pic, I'm surprised a US engine can even breath with that amount of restriction in place.
Drove mine around for three weeks. I would tip toe out of the neighborhood, Then let all hell break loose! When are you going to grow up you old man? 67
Happy days, my first magazine (semi) cover. The Ratarossa story made it into Autocar. Loving the title ‘Worlds most shocking Ferrari’ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just bought a copy this afternoon. Its Ok actually, typical journalism. Seems to spend as much time on your other cars and domestics; but does summaries "...wonderful and unique". (Not sure why he is wearing string driving gloves and turned up to a Ferrari piece in motorcycle boots! But hey, my limited experience of journalist this would fit!!)
Another hard day in the office Magazine shoot again today in British sunshine Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Yes they were changed early on when I first got it started a couple of years back. Plan though this winter is to drop the engine and replace ALL belts and pipes when I do an engine refresh.
Lovely drive out in the Ratarossa today. 120 mile round trip and the car drove superb. Image Unavailable, Please Login
