I have just fitted a challenge grille to my 355 Spider. (bought from Prosport http://www.prosport-ferrari.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=267&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=29&lang=en Excellent item and fits extremely well!) I went for a run in the car yesterday. The ambient temparature was in the 80s - particularly hot in this neck of the woods! I found that the water and oil temp were significantly lower than with the standard rear panel when cruising at 70mph or thereabouts. This resulted in a higher oil pressure. Although I wont do it, I could easliy consider a thinner grade oil now. Seems to me that all 355s would benefit from having a vented rear panel. I was amazed by the difference it has made.

I agree with you. That rear grill, as we all know, is not just for looks, specially if you could install two small cooling fans behind it to extract the heat out. Just enough to keep the engine warm :)

What pressure were you at before the grill and after?

At 3500RPM before 70psi, now about a notch and half more than that - sorry no access to the car and I cant remember what pressure a notch is equivalent to!

Yes, the Prosport guys have commisioned a jig to make a production run of them. As I said they fit very well! Why don't you US guys get a group buy together. I'll help with the transaction if you need it!

I will commit to buy right now. I have wanted one for a long time and everyone who bought from prosport recommends them. My car is going for a major very soon so I am in. Let us know if you don't mind how many we need for a deal. Thanks for offering to help. :)

I'll talk to them tomorrow for you. BTW that price of £450 is plus 20% tax to UK residents but I dont think they will charge for an export. Leave it to me!

Scott, they quoted £550 including shipping. Pity you cant order more than one between you since they dont weigh much and you could reduce the shipping cost with a multi order.

Did they say if they would offer any discounted price for a specific number of buyers? I don't expect you to do all this leg work so if you don't mind give me a phone number and I will call and ask. Thanks again

I asked the question on the 5 off deal. He will do them for £425 each and it will still be £100 carriage because the box size is the same. He would encourage you to take additional insurance on a box of 5 because DHL's standard insurance would not cover the value of the grilles in the event of a total loss. You can phone Mike and check all this out if you wish. I am here to help if you need it!

John that's 25 pounds less so we can't complain. I again really appreciate you taking it upon yourself to help us colonist across the pond. :D
If you do speak to them again and he will sell it now for the 525 pounds total, I will just go ahead and order now. If not help out guys lets get them while we can.

Let's get it out here. Is anyone else willling to commit to buy? Maybe we could get more than just 5 and the price can only get better. :)

Surely there are a few other 355 owners that want a challenge grill and I don't think we are going to see them for less than $850 US currency anywhere else!!!

Has anyone put fans on the grill to suck out heat — seems like over kill to me, however I'm strangely intrigued?
