Get a seriously good lawyer, a street fighter that doesn't give up, in France. Yes, it's gonna cost you money, a ton of money. Most authorities have zero or little interest to dig and research what happened forty or more years ago. Good luck, fingers crossed for you. UK law enforcement got involved because at least one member of the London police is here on fchat. I was contacted as well. Marcel Massini
Thanks Marcel. Hmm.... A French street fighter eh? I will start looking for one. I may still need to involve law enforcement, as someone will eventually need to conduct an independent forensic examination of the other car. Fortunately, mine benefitted from a thorough exam undertaken at the expense of the Italian taxpayer.
I imagine it will be UK customs that have taken the lead, as the car was clearly brought into the UK under false paperwork and I don't think it got to the stage of being road legal here under the Aussie cars ID. After that, if there in no evidence the car was stolen in a jurisdiction that is allied to the UK then I guess it will just get shipped back out, but to where, who knows as it left Dubai as the Aussie car as well. Slid into Italy maybe and transformed back into the original ID to re merge as a legit car once again.
I find this thread fascinating and get excited every time that I see a fresh post to it. I have one simple question that I am sure Marcel knows the answer to and maybe can answer without interfering with the ongoing criminal investigation. Without naming names, were 90969 and 85397 ever owned by the same person or entities controlled by the same person?
t thats the trigger....get the govt to realize they lost an opportunity to extract money from somebody and they will be all over it! otherwise, they dont give a damn...
Hi Marcel, I used to follow him on Instagram and all of a sudden his posts turned to 0 in early 2020. So now that it has been confirmed, the Blue F40 chassis number has been tampered with, I thought I'd share few details so nobody gets screwed in the future with any of these shady transactions. You may want to look into this Yellow F50, which the same guy took delivery back then, it was imported from Japan and all banged up with scratches. Within few weeks, it was in a mint condition and with an aftermarket exhaust. Just to mark the first anniversary of the start of this intriguing case. As per post #5 Chassis #85397: Assembly #02475. Engine #22520. Gearbox #100. Body #46. 9 May 1990 build start. 5 June 1990 completion date. Delivered new to Autoterminal S.p.A., on to Sa.Mo.Car. S.p.A. in Rome, later to Japan. "Carthago delenda est"
1 year on now from when it was confirmed that the Azzurro Blue F40 ringer was seized for further investigation by British authorities.
Just happened to notice that the thread starter has been banned!? Surely it's not connected in any way.... Still no updates about the blue ringer, almost 22 months on from when it was exposed. "Carthago delenda est"
I think azzurudino or something was his ig name. Suddenly dissapeared from all car shows and social media. Below is his garage and a youtube video of another collector visiting him and driving his cars. Also seen many of his cars and that yellow F50 with different number plates in Dubai. You can see the blue F40 clearly in the video.
See post #19 - this photograph was taken in the workshop of Joe Macari Servicing in London, different car
But that car had a tricolore stripe going all the way down to the mesh on the rear clamshell, with the "FERRARI" badge removed. Been for sale at Macari twice in recent years. 2012: 2016: Image Unavailable, Please Login With a new set of wheels the last time.... Compare this with the yellow on white stripe on the Azzuro Blue ringer Difficult to see that detail 100% on the photo in post #511, but it looks suspiciously like the car above... Wonder when that photo was taken? Before it went up to Kaaiman, or just before it was seized? Providing the car in the photo in post #511 is in actual fact 85397/"90969" Time will tell. (??)
Missing photos in post above. 2012: Image Unavailable, Please Login 85397/"90969" Image Unavailable, Please Login
I stand completely corrected, I spent more time than most in that workshop but only saw the tricolore car. Ferrari badge and wheels definitely point towards it being "90969"
Today it's 2 years ago since FC member Aircon (now banned...) brought to our attention that two F40s for sale both claimed to be ch.no. 90969. It was soon established that the car in Australia was the genuine example, the blue one turned out to be ch.no. 85397, as per assembly no. To add to the intrigue, both examples came with a Classiche Red Book, issued for 90969. We still don't know how and why 85397 became a blue ringer, or anything about its current status. "Carthago delenda est"
though in my opinion a more thorough, honest and informative answer would come from the eminent Mr. Massini....!!!
Thank you for the attachment which was very informative on how dishonest some players are and how careful one should be when buying. (It’s not just who are you buying from but there could be a chain of illegitimate transactions on the car before yours!)
Bump. Another year down the track and no obvious news. I presume the car is still in the UK under the protection of Mr Plod.
I remember back around 2020 or so both an Enzo and a low-mileage F50 owned by a same person were brought to my attention. I went to see them (in the UK) and I started feeling uncomfortable once I got to know that they came from Dubai. I then noticed that the Enzo had a Warranty & Service Book that was empty instead of being filled with the delivery details. The F50, was the main car of interest to me, especially given its attractive circa 5,000km odometer reading - but of course, this had to be checked and cross-checked, given how easy it is to disconnect the odometer. The F50 had no Warranty & Service Book; just a maintenance booklet as replacement with few service stamps in it, albeit few dating back quite a while. So now my discomfort became accute. Additionally, there was almost nothing about history (just a couple or so receipts from a Dubai dealer). As a last step I talked to the owner directly (a guy called ‘Amin’) on the phone and it took me less than a minute to think ‘forget it, this F50 is not for me at all’ and I hung up and walked away. Few days later, I heard that Kaaiman dealers bought both the Enzo and the F50. A couple of years later I saw that video of Amin and his garage and I said ‘ha, good I did not consider it seriously’…
It's interesting that a car gets sold in Italy, then Japan. Then nothing for 30 years. No reports of it being stolen, written off etc. Then it turns up in the UK with a FAKE serial number after being shipped from Dubai. Why?? Why hide the fact it is 85397? What was so bad in the history of the existence of 85397 that it was decided to hide its true identity? Very strange.
Here's a story about a high spec. SUV stolen in Toronto ending up with a car dealer in Dubai. The owner tracked it with help of two hidden Apple AirTags, Authorities were less than helpful, later he sees his car advertised for sale, for AED 220 000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3eG8ZbeXeQ&ab_channel=CBCNews:TheNational
