This was told to me by a vendor at a Ferrari show earlier this year. Aparently, exoto dropped many of their vendors in an attempt to sell the models themselves. This didn't work and when they tried to ask their vendors back, many simply said no. Thats the reason they aren't coming out with models as soon as they say they are.

I too have heard that (well, not the part about them asking people back). It's a shame, really, because their stuff is of such high quality.

The "cutting out the dealers and selling retail themselves" is just one of their problems. Their customer service, to both retail and wholesale customers is terrible. Another fault is showing upcoming product and not coming out with it for years. All of these examples show that they do not know how to run a good business. It's a shame because what products they do produce are top shelf. They are now in the process of pricing themselves out of business with their new price increases. Yes, their costs have risen due to China's growing economy, but I don't think their new prices can be justified. Look at CMC's prices. They manufacture the same quality as Exoto and their prices are much less.

They also don't listen to requests from their customers (and I already own 4 of their Ferraris).

I have asked, repeatedly, for a version of the 641/2 where the driver figure has both hands on the steering wheel, with no computer, umbrella, or other extraneous item attached to the car. (If you check all their versions of this model, you'll find that they have done no version like this.) All my other Exoto Ferraris have a driver figure like that, so why not the 641/2?

    Hello,

like mentioned in a different thread; I purchased my first Exoto model ( 312 B ) 5 years ago for EUR 50,-- ( $ 60,-- ) new from a retailer. Some folks are easily getting megalomaniacal.
Today's Exoto prices are not for me, because I have problems accepting, that I should pay more for a toy, than for a complete set of small service parts for my 1:1 308 GTB.
From time to time, if one's patient enough, one can snap a bargain on ebay.

    Best Regards from Germany

    Martin

Exoto is...on ebay. Search "Exoto Ferrari", and you'll see all the auctions pop up. Many will have similarly styled pictures for the item, and they'll all have a starting bid at MSRP and a "Buy It Now" $30-$40 higher. Oh, and most will have 0 bids.
