Although not released in the US, you may have heard on the German movie "The Red Baron". While panned by the purists for the usual historic inaccuracies, there are some fun aerial sequencies on Youtube. Again, with some inaccuracies, but if you can suspend your disbelief, it's kinda fun.
    Here's one:

Our European friends may add more direct comments as I have not actually seen the movie.

Russ- Would love to see it. Many of my friends have, but it was pretty much panned universally. Who cares? A movie about WW-I aviation is still a treat. No Dr.Is fighting N.17s either. I liked the Mercedes D.IIIa engine rocker arms going up and down. Nice touch.

Eventually someone will do better than The Blue Max, but not yet.

I can see it now. You and Terry glued in your seats cheering for the good guy who is wearing the white helmet and white scarf and doesn't wear the cruel grin while his Lewis gun was spouting flame. A story. When I was a little kid I went to the Saturday morning matinee to see " Wings", I think. Late that afternoon when I failed to return home my parents launched a search party. No success. The cops were called out and beat the bushes. No success. The whole neighborhood joined the search. No success. At 1930 my dad had a revelation and went to the neighborhood theater in which the movie was being shown. There I was, slouched down in a front row seat in my oil cloth helmet and round goggles watching the movie for maybe the fourth time. So if Russ or Terry aren't found for seven hours, you know where to look.

Bob- As long as Russ does not try to hold hands, sounds like a good deal to me. I have even watched Flyboys a few times.

I have seen this movie and it is pretty interesting. I agree that it isn't historically accurate, but it is entertaining.

Just watched a Hong Kong copy I got from Bell and Blade.
Not quite historically acccurate, a little preachy, but the backgrounds and everything were very entertaining.

    Hey, it's a WW1 flying film!
