    Maybe the rear hatch was damaged, and replacements are scarce? Maybe he's in a band and the PA won't fit with the hatch closed? Maybe his neighbor owns an el camino, and he felt he needed to keep up with the Jones'? Maybe he was high as a kite?

    Believe it or not but the 928 pickup is quite common in parts of europe.

    Definitely a conversion.
    If you look closer the cars is a US model (front side blinkers), in a typical US town background (USPS mailbox, 35mph limit). Eureka! We have found a true redneck Benz :D

    I spent some time @ Weissach in 1977; during that time there were 2 "el camino- style" studies in the studios, one on a 928 chassis, and one on a 924 chassis (which also had gobs of clay along the beltline = early 3D of what would become the 944), and a perfect original late '60's El Camino down in the garage area, with a 928 V8 in it!
    Everyone was closely checked for cameras!!

    A local Mercedes full-service shop has a Mercedes-rebodied El Camino. The body seams are so well done it looks factory. Even the interior is All-Mercedes.
