The exhaust heat shields have been fitted, they have been given an extra layer of protection - Zircotec flexible ceramic heat shield material:
Zircotec - Plasma sprayed ceramic thermal coatings

The exhaust manifolds have been ceramic baked with Zircotec:
Performance Colours - a ceramic coating range that delivers the ultimate in thermal barrier performance and attractive finishes for motorsport and performance applications.

hopefully the cabin should be a pretty cool place to hang out!

    Gents,

Pavel Novitski is one of the technicians working on my car, he has a great eye for detail and a true passion and love of the car. Only today he tells me he is also a very talented photographer!

Check out some great pictures on his web portfolio:
    pavelnovitski.com

I will be getting Pavel to do a photo shoot of the 275GTb when it is finished!

    cheers

Is that nut loose on the end of the anti rollbar drop link where it bolts to the wishbone?

Beautiful work, even if upside down :D

Hi Pete, yes all the nuts on the suspension, wishbones, anti-roll bars etc etc - they are all loose as the car has never been on its wheels since being put back together. Once it is completed on the ramp, it will be allowed to settle on its wheels under it's own weight, then it will be wheeled to the geometry ramp at the other end of the workshop. Only then will the process of tightening all the nuts and bolts begin.

    cheers Mark

The new tires & tubes arrived the other day!

Also the new radiator hoses are now fitted.

The new brake pads are on route.

The hose for the clutch slave cylinder, not happy with the fit of the one supplied by Maranello, so we are going to make our own to our own specification.

Then fill all the fluids and get the levels right.

Getting ever closer to sitting on its own wheels again, then a day on the Geometry ramp.

    cheers Mark

    Warning !

My 275GTB came with four Michelin XWX205/14 tyres mounted, but with an original Pirelli 205/14 on the spare wheel in the boot. See picture.

I replaced all 5 tyres with new Michelin 205/14 tyres.

But I found out that the spare wheel with Michelin could not enter into the boot ! The Michelin is wider than the Pirelli ! So I put the empty original Pirelli tyre in the boot ( no one can see there is no rim in it ! ) and keep the complete spare wheel waiting in my garage.

About the new Michelin tyres, I saw too late that they are tubeless and had them assembled with new tubes. But if your rims allow, is better to have them assembled without tube. This makes for a lighter and softer wheel, running cooler, more comfortable and saving gas !

Check about this before having the tubes fitted !

Hi Louis, thanks for the advice I will check this. I will also check if one will fit in the spare wheel well, before fitting all 5, so i can return one if necessary.

    many thanks

What is wrong with the XWX and what alternative is there for a 275 GTB with Starburst alloys?

Hello Mark, Thank you for sharing your project.
Have you considered to fit Low Volumetric Expansion brake hoses ?. As you may know, they reduce the brake pedal travel and the "spongy" feeling often associated with the "classic" ones.

    Rubbish!
I've XWX's on my 330 and I can,and do,punt it with utmost confidence around any corner you choose, wet or dry.
Tassie early last year was an indication, with the carby group from Victoria.
We had a mixture of wet dry and everything inbetween.

??? I've driven (spiritedly) several Daytonas wearing them with no apparent problems. Of course if compared to modern tire designs... , apples and oranges ?

What a great tyre! With the exception of a period 20 years ago when circuit racing my 275 (245/60/14 Yokohamas nla) I have always fitted the full profile 205x 14 XWX Michelins. They are a good all round tyre having a relatively hard compound and an excellent rigid carcass. Best of all is the look, so period and yet they have performed well in various hill climbs often beating some modern machinery! Also have them on my E type, looks great and there is no more squealing when going into roundabouts too fast!

Welcome to Ferrari Chat. Out of interest which model 275 GTB do you have? Short Nose, Long Nose, 3 or 6 Carb.....? Is it on Borranis or alloys? Please post some pics.

Alternately, shaving the spare down until it fits is a possible solution.
