Mark, All OEM brake hoses have some expansion to them. Its the SS braided teflon lines which are rock hard. Continental, Goodyear, and a host of others make OEM hoses. Back in the old days, I was in the brake hose business. Hydraulic Brake Hose | Goodyear® Engineered Products :: Dom
From memory, all production brake hose is low expansion. I expect it to be much lower than in the 1960s when the materials were much simpler. Good luck !!
You put the assembled tyre and wheel in some sort of lathe and machine off some of the tread. Race guys do this for series that require road tires to be used as the tread blocks are too deep and chunk or the car handles poorly due to the tread blocks flexing. What was the original tyre for a 275GTB? Surely that must fit as a spare? Pete

Thanks for the info, Bill. Sounds like a very exciting car. To post pictures click on "Post Reply", scroll down and click the "Manage Attachments" box and a new window will appear, click on "Browse" which should take you to where your pictures are stored on your computer, select the pictures and then hit the "Upload" box. It can take a short while for the pics to download and it says when they are downloading but you will see when the download is complete. You then have to click the "Submit Reply" box right at the bottom. it may be better if you download 1 picture at a time by waiting for each one to download completely rather than downloading 4 at a time in the 4 available "Browse" boxes which takes forever when I try and download more than one pic at a time. When you have downloaded the pics you want to post then click the "Submit Reply" box.
thanks Pete. Ok i will not be doing that, i will just fit a 190 x 14 on the spare and the problem will be solved. thanks Mark
have a look at Bill's webpage, there is a picture of his 275 in action: Classic Car Restoration - Aston Martin Specialist
So the cars were originally fitted with 190 x 14's then? Are you going to run that size? We are so used to so much grip nowadays that the art of balancing a car on the available grip is being lost. Pity as challenging and fun. Pete
Hi Louis, here are a couple of pictures of the geometry ramp set-up... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Pete, from what i can gather some early cars had 190 x 14 and some had 205 x14. I also think, with a 205 x14 even thought the sizes may be the same, modern and old tyre construction is different - therefore effecting the actual physical width - same effect with different manufacturers. When i say the spare wheel does not fit with a 205 x 14, its only just. Fitting a 190 x 14 on the spare makes life easy and gives me the comfort of getting home if i have a puncture. cheers Mark
The car is sitting a little high on the ramp as it has blocks under the chassis, taking the load off the suspension.... great to see it back on its wheels!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
we have 80kg of weight in the boot to simulate a full tank of fuel, while doing the suspension, ride hight setup....... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I cant tell you how happy this makes me, the car looks better than i could ever have imagined! Now it is back on its wheels it just looks better and better, i could look at it for days.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
well for me the tire debate is over - the Michelin 205 x 14 full profile (80) tire fits perfectly on my car, they fill the wheel arch and look fantastic!
Looking absolutely fabulous Mark. Only the followers here and the knowledgeable would suspect that she was anything but a "nice" older Ferrari. Beautiful work. Credit to your patience and drive.
very happy with the restored wheel spinners, the new centres were supplied by Tom S. and look perefect when chromed.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
