That little troll should worry about his debt payments, looming divorce settlement and tomorrow's FOTA conference instead of continually pissing off North America....
Is there no information at the end of all the other USF1 threads on this page ? In short Peter has started blogging perhaps because he has nothing else to do
Ok what I have gleaned so far, USF1 is said to be closer than ever to a deal with Jose Maria Lopez from Argentina. Not much on the 2nd driver although there were signs that they did have a go at convincing Ralf Schumacher to make an F1 comeback. AFAIK they have revealed a list of the team’s partnerships which includes Crawford Composites and Gunther Steiner’s Fibreworks Composites, plus a couple of other composite companies. They are also working closely with a company called Fibre Dynamics. They need to pick a driver with some F1 experience IMO. The expectations are low so nothing to lose I suppose.
They seem to be very focused on the manufacturing of the carbon fibre parts. I find that quite odd, as it's nowadays a very basic process for every team, nothing to boast about. Like if Ferrari kept telling us not how much better a new car performs but how much better they managed to mold its body parts...
My guess is that while there may indeed be a bevy of sponsors or at least one or two large household brands who may even alternate (as per the Nascar ponsorship model), no one is going to suffer a PR debacle by announcing and creating fan fair prior to seeing a proper F1 car with track proven times. I would imagine sponsorship is contingent upon such.
interesting tidbit. several departments within USF1 have been trying to hire a specific engineer, but have not been allowed to extend the offer. Not sure if this is a headcount freeze, a lack of funds, or an internal arguement over who has authority to do so. Any way you look at it, this aint good. I hope they make it. And if they put ralph in the car, they'd atleast get TV time. The US commentators love to make fun of him...
Here is an update of some sorts: http://www.speedweek.ch/news/9253/USF1-am-kritischen-Punkt.html Speedweek is one of my fav sources and highly reliable. I actually know some folks there and they have been defending USF1 up until now. Suddenly this report came out, which basically says, that they no longer believe PeeWee's PR statements and tend to believe now Bernie who thinks they won't make it. The really interesting part is, that they mention how PeeWee is already lining up the excuses. His current complaint is, that in the UK the folks have the audacity to celebrate Christmas and spend their Holidays with their families. A while ago I and others on here were counting the productive days the team has to make it to the first race and I said, forget December, because at least the second half is a write off. Well, it seems PeeWee didn't think so (like X-mas isn't celebrated in the US) and is now worrying about making the deadline. Before that he was complaining about Cosworth delaying their engine delivery.
Ich sprechen dutsche nichet so gut. and the sentance above proves why I almost failed german in college I am sure.
Bernie, and other folks knew somehow rather they won't make it to the grid. Yet, they still reward USF1 the slot, and overlook Prodrive. Doesn't make sense at all to me.
