Has anyone stayed there? Any opinions?

It was recommended to me and I will be heading out there next week.

Any recommendations for any fun stuff in the area? :)

I proposed to my wife there. We left the property after 2 nights, the weather was driving us crazy. It was windy the whole time, it would rain like mad, then the sun would come out for 20 minutes, then it would rain again. It wasn't a good beach/pool hotel. We moved across the island and had no other problems.

Was there about 3 years ago for my honeymoon. Location wise, you're a bit removed from the action in Kanapali and Lahaina and weatherwise, you're more prone to the afternoon winds and rain showers.

We loved it more for the good service (not having to show a room key for towel service, etc) and lack of kids at the property. Since we don't have kids yet, any hotel that has a water slide = screaming kids running all over the place. Waileia was nice too but too crowded. One of the nice things about the Ritz is the Polynesian design that makes you feel like you're in Hawaii vs the other monster hotels like the Grand Wailea...

    I love it.

The only downside is that, even in an oceanfront suite, you still have a bit of a long walk to the beach.

I stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani. It was a toss up between the 2 when we went. I was told that, due to the location of the Ritz, it would be very windy.
never drove up there to find out if it was true.
But we loved the fairmont, and there is a high end mall 1 minute away, so the wife was happy.
