Motorsports Unlimited aired "The Rock" tonite. So,check your local Cable schedule for when it airs by you. My Daughter said that I look like a Grizzly Bear with all of it's hair plucked off in my warm little suit.

They seemed quite excited about the Ferrari turnout.

I'd be curious to see it, but I have Dish Network. Andreas, if you could make a DVD from your Tivo that would be nice. Personally, I thought the event would have been better if the guy would've given some kind of speech or background on why we were there. I'm sure he did on the TV show, but it would have been nice for the benefit of those of us who were out there freezing our asses off! It was so cold I didn't even bend over to read the inscription on the rock. Honestly, I think I'll pass on this one next year, unless the weather is great, and there is some kind of organized drive afterwards. After thinking about it, it's a bit silly to get up at the butt crack of dawn, drive an hour to stand outside in 0 degrees for 2 minutes and be interviewed by a guy in front of a rock. Am I the only one that feels this way? I guess the charm of being on TV has passed me by a long time ago, especially local cable access with a viewship of ??? Waynes World, partytime, excellent....

Sean, I hear ya. A few comments:
    - I'm sure Bill will explain the circumstances of the event in the show.
    - Below is the plaque
    - I wanted to do a brunch afterwards, but with the weather being that cold it seemed like the best strategy to just head home.
    - Not sure I want to do it next year again. Maybe every other year keeps the novelty there. I did it in 2003 and passed on it last year.

Pilota will have a nice one page article about it. I can give you a copy when it comes out.

Hey it was fun to do it once, but I really enjoyed the ride out West as we went flying past early morning families. It sure was hard keeping up with you but it was worth the risk. Same time next year?

I taped the show yesterday and Bill and his ladies did explain the significance of the rock. While Carla was talking about the redline in a 355 and Sean about what the definition of a real Ferrari is.

Here some screenshots of the interviews: Sean, Robert + Dave, I, Carla, Rick, Chuck + dad and finally Frank.

Yeah, though I looked like a goof in my attire. But I was quite warm and Comfy....I was actually sweating in it! Great for Ice Fishing....But,I don't do that anymore.

IMO,I think we should just kind of "Play it by ear" in the future....See how the Weather is. How many are all up for it. Do something afterwards,ETC...

It wasn't a big deal for me to do it. It only took about 10-15 minutes to get down there. Stood around for what,a 1/2 hour-45 minutes or so? Nice to see everyone. Then,a little longer back the way we took. I'll be up for it in the future. The significance is definitely awesome. But,maybe not if it's that Cold again.

I sent Speed TV an E-mail about "the Rock" and what it's all about. And said that if they ever wanted to do something by it to let me know. Maybe when they come out here in the Summer for NASCAR at Joliet Speedway in July....?

I don't even remember what I said about a 'real Ferrari', but he said something about the TR being a 12 that it was a real Ferrari and I said they're all real if they have Ferrari on them. I guess some people just like certain models or engines better than others, and call those the real ones.

Yes: The first race happened on Thanksgiving in 1895. At the 100 year anniversary on Thanksgiving in 1995 (although my counting tells me that would actually be the 101st anniversary) an Automobile club dedicated the rock and the plaque to mark the spot where the first US race started and ended. Along with that Motorsports Unlimited TV decided to do this show every Thanksgiving going forward, so this year they call that their ten year anniversary (11 to my counting).

Frank, agreed let's play it by ear going forward and good thinking about notifying Speed TV.

Sean (and all), don't think too much about what his questions are. He is just trying to make friendly conversation while staying on the topic. He is really good at making his interviewees looking good.

Yes,I definitely agree with Sean. If the car has "Ferrari badging",and was made in a Ferrari factory. It IS a "Real Ferrari". And,as far as I am concerned. That goes for "Dino badging" as well.

ROTFLMAO!!!! That is EXACTLY what Rocketboy always says!...:)

That picture of me and my buds' is from 1990. ( I was 30) Ahh yes....the old Biker days....:)

But, seriously. Right around the time of that photo. The three of us went to the Chicago Auto Show with their Dad, (who owns Four very Large Steel Forges. Believe it or not. That family is extremely Wealthy. You would never know that by looking at their Sons, though.) And we went to the show in Dad's new white Lexus LS400. Which just came out in 1990. He had one of the first ones in the area. And everyone was going "Look! It's ZZ Top!!" It was pretty funny.

Oh yeah....definitely must have a 246Dino in the Collection someday. I was at Borders in Oakbrook yesterday picking up some Ferrari books and Exotic car magazines. I picked up one that I get occassionally, (usually, only when there is a Ferrari on the cover) called "Classic & Sportscar". It is from England. And this issue, (December 2005) has a feature story about those cars.

This past Spring when I was in Arizona. I was cruising southbound on Scottsdale Road one Night and was next to a Silver 246GTS. The Targa Top was off, and it had a Tubi, or some type of performance Exhaust. And, man, did that car sound sweet! Looked sweet, too!

The red one in this picture was driving next to, then behind me along Ogden Av. in Hinsdale. We cruised past Continental side by side. I tried to motion him to pull over, but he didn't. I saw one parked at a house down on Madison Street in Burr Ridge, once. Could be the same guy.

I'm kind of thinking that the guy in that SUV was thinking "Trade In" right about then.....:)

That pic is from 1990? That looks like about 1973! Looks like you're killing a couple of tallboys before driving up 294 to the Thirsty Whale to see Uriah Heep.
