I don't believe that was a real 355 that was actually wrecked in the movie. I think the wrecked one was a replica. "Dude, you just f....ed up your Ferrari!"

A company called IFG (Imaginary Fiber Glass) built two replicas for the movie. They were a big Lamborghini kit car maker. They actually spun off a company called Warlock Designs (to protect their main business) to produce a 355 kit for a while until Ferrari shut them down.

Real car in most scenes and a replica in teh crash. Its funny how the whole side of the car comes apart in one piece. He likes drivng himself when doing stunts. Used to run a cafeteria in an office buiding where his office was. Very quite and strange man IMO. Only made head movements when greeting people he knew, including myself. To others, never raised his head or the shades. Interesting person in whole.

I did too. The 355 got a fair amount of time in the beginning of the money, however it didn't end to well for the poor car. :(

They used a replica for all of the scenes where there was a high risk of the car getting damaged, not just for the final crash (driving down the sidewalk hitting the parking meters, driving out of the window etc.), and the real car for close-ups and scenes where there was low risk of any damage occurring.

Watch it a few more times - You can tell when they're using the Fiero based replica quite easily really if you know what to look for.

(To be fair though, 99.9% of people watching the film wouldn't be aware at all, but there again, those same people wouldn't have spotted that two different cars are used in the opening scenes of Beverly Hills Cop II either!).

I cringe just picturing the part where the parking meters smash the windshield frame and glass.

It's OK though because in the next scene it is all fixed if I recall. Hollywood magic unbreaks the windshield.

A bit off subject but I watched Bowfinger on HBO last night. Eddie Murphy and a red 355 spider in the parking garage.
