Was the Senna movie earth shattering or did it really tell you any more than what you already new, I think you guys are expecting too much of it & were thinking it was going to tell you all about his accident & since, that was never what it was going to be about. I think Corrina & the Family were quite open, genuine & it was heart warming imo, I think there was more given by them than I already new & its been 8+ years since his ski accident & they've stayed private all that time, so why would it all of a sudden change because of this doco.
I didn't like the Senna movie either Pete but Schuey was a good looking man ... I could have turned for him
I watched the first half this afternoon and had to turn it off. It was boring and not fast paced enough for me.
I'm going to be sanctimonious again but I think a think a really good doco or movie should capture the essence of the person in question or challenge your perceptions of the person being studied. The Schumacher movie does neither. I really enjoyed Ford vs Ferrari movie because although it was not 100% historically correct, it captured the essence of the story - which wasn't about the battle between Ford and Ferrari for victory at Le Mans as the movie title suggested but rather the relationship between Shelby and Miles and role they played in Ford's victories between 1966-1969. Ditto for Rush, which again captured the essence of Lauda and Hunt, how their rivalry spurred Niki to return to the track and forged a real genuine bond between them. I know that these are movies and so have some 'artistic license' to focus on the essence rather than accuracy. As Wes pointed out, the best thing about the doco was the genuine love that Corrina, their children and Michael's father Rolf have for Michael. You can see a really powerful story about love and family and the documentary didn't really do justice to this theme. Michael Schumacher was clearly an extraordinary person that did extraordinary things on and off the race track. There is much that we could learn about the human condition and ourselves from his life and yet the documentary failed to capture this in any meaningful or insightful way. And this is my personal opinion, but I think the Schumacher family want privacy about Michael's condition because they don't want to judged for the decision to keep him alive. And fair enough, because after seeing the genuine love that they share for him, I can see why they never want to let him go and do everything in their power to protect and keep him alive. And ultimately, that is what the doco should've been about - never giving up, no matter how bleak it gets.
I think we’ll give you are new nick name - Bill Collins If nothing else it’s certainly got you talking about it
Ok. I watched it. Bearing in mind I like Schumacher for his talent and work ethic as well as he appears to be a very decent person. I also like Ferrari.... So.... I liked the movie a lot.
Agreed. We watched it tonight as well. Excellent. Also agree with others that it could have been over several parts and gone deeper, but not meant as criticism.
I too watched it tonight and I also thought it was excellent. I felt sad when Mick spoke at the end about how he would give anything to be able to speak the language of Motorsport with his dad… I’ll watch it again as Shuey (or Shumi…) is one of my heroes.
You guys are easily pleased, not a criticism, just an observation .................................. of how simple you lot are
