So my quest for a clean 348 has turned up a handful of examples lately, all with nice shape and each one has some extras (complete toolkits, luggage or aftermarket exhausts).
The thing is though, they all need majors due to the length of time since the last major.
That being said, what would a reasonable price be to pay for a car needing this work? As it stands all asking prices are within a few thousand dollars plus or minus the $40000 mark.

Sounds like you've done your homework. Opinions will vary as to what you should pay, but the bottom line is what's available at what price when you're ready to buy. You can shop forever, but prices are going up now. Better to buy and have the major done, so you know who did it and what was done, or do it yourself!

+1 Having the major done yourself gives you a little bargaining room on the purchase price, but more importantly, sets a good baseline as you assume ownership. That's what Bruce was trying to say in a more sophisticated way...

Hmmm...How about my SS? 49900 with new belts or 44900 and you get it done. We can negotiate further with or without the cool wheels, with or without the folding soft top, etc...

By far one of the most gorgeous cars. I absolutely love it. How much is the 'big' service?

That is so enticing! The problem I have is I'm looking at buying more real estate right now.
