Would that be the Lauda who was called "a has been who should keep his mouth shut" by some on here when he blamed Nico for a previous incident? ;)

    Negative.

The racing line down the straight is on the Left Hand Side of the track.

Nico was moving right OFF the racing line toward the RHS and Lewis in a blind rage after Nico had out dragged him, foolishly followed him causing the crash.

Therein lies the genius that is alonso. You noticed that last minute twitch to the left by the rb right? That's what ultimately guided Alonso's instinct to go up the inside instead.

Had Alonso been in Hamilton's car he probably would've recognized the cover and taken the outside like as many have mentioned in 20/20 hindsight as being the better move...and no "forced grass mowing".

That's not the point I'm making. Over the past few years, whenever it went wrong for Rosberg when he was ahead of Lewis, Toto's reactions where always very telling. That wry smile.

Wherlein is not his newest favorite. Just a test day for him.

The point is that many are *****ing that Rosberg never Hamilton any room. Hamilton has been king in that regard, even if we're just comparing the incidents between himself and Rosberg...;)

I've been lucky enough to get to go at it on track in karts with a few of the grid past and present. Its my observation that the gap is still there, some are better than others. What hides it, is the fact they are in a conservation mode of tires and fuel. Since there is additional grip available beyond what the driver is asking of the tire, if he asks too much, the car still responds. Its only apparent in shorter tire life.

Rain, where the tires are kept cooler, is when that gap shows up again. It also shows up in close wheel to wheel racing where suddenly tire conservation takes a second seat.

I think the Red Bull driver's program has helped raise the grid talent a lot as well. The way they cycle through faster gives more drivers with talent a chance.

Also, life expectancy, make a mistake in the past, and you could be dead. Senna or Hamilton might of never lived long enough to have won a world championship in 1960's GP cars. The current crop gets to live on to learn from their mistakes.

If Lewis was Kvyat's brother, he'd be driving a Williams next GP.

    But, of course, he's British...

    "That was the racing line"
"Nico chose to drive off the line"
    "That was Nico's fault"
"Nico should have stayed on the left"

Just like Lewis DELIBERATELY ran Nico off the track in that video, give Nico NO ROOM, and NO CHOICE, Nico also DELIBERATELY ran Lewis off the track last weekend, and gave him no choice.

watched 18 replays and slow mo's on bbc. the 2 mercedes were in different modes. nico harvesting, needs to fiddle with the switch, loses sight of hamilton, and hamilton tries to take advantage of the moment, and then nico sees him late, veers to the right, hamilton cant back out or evade - collision. i dont think either one is really at fault, but if you want to blame somebody it can be hamilton for rushing into it. but the fault is slight since he is a racer after all.
