Anyone who knows the story of 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa #0732, which placed 7th in 1958 Le Mans 24 hours.??? I would like to know why the car was called "Lucybelle II" or where this nickname came from. I would also like to know this car's racing history. I hope that someone can help (attached is a pic of my new 1:18 model of her) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Story can be found in the book "250 Testa Rossa" of the Cavalleria Series, authored by Doug Nye and Pietro Carrieri. S/N 0732 TR is owned since January 1992 by Giorgio Perfetti in Switzerland, who got the car from Kerry Manolas in Australia.
I have that one, Tina, if you need a copy of the info..... Maybe someone can quote that part of it.............
Thanks for the info I found some of the owners at this site: http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0732TR.250TR.htm But unfortunately nothing about the story behind the name Hmm i guess that is a book for my wishlist
OK, I'll drop by my library and try to find it.....obviously it was a US owner campaigning the car in '57...... Maybe some of our historians will fill us in..... brb...off to the library! Good thing it's close by!! LOL!
Sorry to say but it is 16 (sixteen) books, the last volume being "250 GT Spider California" authored by David G. Seibert and Pietro Carrieri.
Right .....sixteen....that last one didn't match the other's red covers! I have them all Tina....they were like potatoe chips, once you ate one......j/k! Can you find the answer to the question, gtofreak? I don't have my copy at hand.......i'm WORKING!!!!!! LOL!
Please don't tell me to much more about those books Then i'll walk around , drooling in every bookstore i'll find Not a pretty sight
They were $100US each and were Limited Edition, now out of print! If you see them in a used book store, grab 'em! Each one is slipcased in an outer box.....pretty deluxe! Maybe a computer whiz can post pics of them ........pretty impressive lined up on the old bookshelf.......Mario Andretti signed my copy of the 312PB one......he really tripped down Memory Lane about it......got kind of misty eyed.......
See also Cavallino magazine number 46 of August 1988. Plus Joel Finn's "Testa Rossa" book and the book "Rivals" (Aston Martin DBR1-Ferrari Testa Rossa 1957-1959) by Chris Nixon.
woow amazing story ! But i'll remember that about the books We have a great bookseller in Denmark... what he doesn't know about books...wwwoooww So maybe he have them... or knows where to find them... he's kind of a wizard sometimes
Try Mike Horton's Books in England or Chaters in England. Or Libreria dell'Autodromo in Monza, Mr. Mario Aquati. Or Ebay.
now we are at it (books)... Carsten is looking for the "Bugatti Magnum" (1989) by Hugh Graham Conway and Maurice Sauzay. Also in a slipcase, and limited to 3000 copies. Individual numbered on a Bugatti Chassis plate. Anybody who knows somebody who has this book for sale??
It's a long story, and some of it is not appropriate to tell. In 1957 Ed Hugus owned and raced 0732 TR. Lucy Belle was his "lady friend" but it was not a public relationship for one or two very important reasons. Sorry to be secretive, but Ed is a friend and mentor of mine, and this story need go no further. O.G.
Hi O.G. Thanks for you help, at least i know some of the story now I had no intention to offend anybody or dig up old stories that maybe should have been forgotten
Yea, when O.G. says "Shhhhhhh....", we quieten down..... So we'll let it go at that......nice model Tina....I think I have that one under the bed or somewhere.... Remind me to get a bigger place, next time........LOL!
Yes ofcourse I didn't wanna offend anybody AAAIII under the bed ? *Sigh* Poor car But yes a nice model... some time this week i receive the red 250 GTO racing no. 24... from the same series Then i only miss the yellow 250 LM with racing no. 26 And eeeh i really need a bigger place too
Yep....I've filled five bookcases, then couldn't fit anymore! Unfortunately, I still kept BUYING more.........LOL! My gf asked me to live with her, just last evening...."Nope, no room for my STUFF......." She was heartbroken........but understood completely. I'll keep her!
Sounds like just the right girl She has to understand the neeeed for Rossa Hmm you get addicted to those models at least i do
