Forgive failing eyesight in old age......... I was warned when I was young it could make me go blind !
Do you know the serial number of the early build 365 BB that Elton John got? Was it painted dark blue? CH
17741. Rosso Bordeaux Dino with Beige VM 3234 interior. First registered in UK 26th April 1974. Supplied via London agent HR Owen.
AH thank you very much for that!!! Nigel Edmonds? the radio guy (radio 1?) got to drive it for a week when it first arrived, courtesy of Elton John. Says Elton 'you know about these things, I will have it sent round'. CH
Anyone know what happened to the crashed car? Also can any say if this was it ? Grant Image Unavailable, Please Login
just shows that the Daytona is a real mans car, children, women, and midgets need not consider the Daytona as a proper choice for them... this has been an ongoing observation by those of small stature and whimps who have tried to tame these gentle beasts, the Daytona series has been a wonderful series of the marque since inception... a good leap forward over what had been available back in the day...
Yes Grant, same car in your picture. No idea what happened to it, but it does not appear to be around anymore. Mark
So Bobby raced the car? Or is that prior to his ownership? What car is it, the plexi model or the other one? Interesting photo, that P car looks gorgeous.
Noel Edmonds, big car guy heavily into GT40's and one of the first presenters of Top Gear when it was a proper car show in the 70's and 80's
It's the car with pop up lights, and square fog lights. Sorry no idea if this was him racing the car. I wish my Daytona, always had a full tank of fuel as his had!
I've sent him the picture on Facebook, let's see if it was him behind the wheel. Here's another pic of the car, post crash... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bobby messaged me a few minutes ago asking about the picture. I pointed him to this thread, so maybe he will contribute. He was curious as to when it was taken. He says it's not him at the wheel, and he thinks it's probably "the Colonel" Ronnie Hoare. He also told me Pete Townshend said the car was turned into a spider and sold at auction for "about a million quid"...
100% certain a 365. Car registered in the second half of 1974. Don't know the serial number unfortunately. Onno
Any idea if this car was repaired and where it is now? Doesn't look like a total loss, but lots of expensive damage.
I think the story has got mixed up over time. Pete Townshend, owned one of the 7 real RHD Spyders, it would be worth over a Million now. The most I have seen a conversion for sale for is £325,000 Used Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 948850) I think as Mark says, it is not know what happened to this car unfortunately. It would be nice to know though. Pete's car before he sold it:- Image Unavailable, Please Login
