Hey Guys, I am happy to say that after a brief hiatus I am back in a comfortable position again and I am ready to take the plunge once more. I am looking for another 328. I have been scouring the usual places so I have a good idea of what is out there. I am doing this search more methodically than before so the search/purchase process may actually take more than a week this time. LOL. Like I said I am going through the normal routine of trying to find a car and I am hitting all of the obvious spots first (Ebay, Ferrariads, cars.com, FML, etc.) but maybe one of you has one or knows of one that isn't in the mainstream classified arena. Here are my parameters: '88 or '89 GTB or GTS Mileage 30k, give or take Recent Major (within last couple of years) Condition A+ Originality is key (I am not looking for a modded car) Books, Tools, and the more records the better. Color is not hugely important. I will buy red or black again but I like the idea of an off-color car. I love blues and greens and yellows, etc. I will consider anything. My funds are in order and I am ready to pull the trigger. If anyone knows of a car they can PM me or email me at augdog959@aol. com Thanks in advance for any help I get.
Jack, Your car is tempting but I really want a convex wheel car. If I was looking for another '87, yours would be at the top of my list. Robbie, Been there, done that. Plus, I don't like the red roof. And the fact that you've sat in it.
Hold out for a GTB this time! Trouble is there are only about 50 with convex wheels in the US and I personally know the owners of 5 of them and none are thinking of selling. Once you get a B, you'll never go back to an S. Dave
Gus, I think there is a GTB on Ebay right now. Don't know a thing about it though. I agree with hardtop, get a GTB. You will love it. Spang
I love the idea of a convex wheel GTB but they are so rare. If anyone knows of a good one for sale I would love to hear about it.
>>>>>>>Hold out for a GTB this time! Trouble is there are only about 50 with convex wheels in the US .... Once you get a B, you'll never go back to an S.<<<<<<< Could some patient soul out there explain to this neophyte the difference between a GTS and a GTB? And what just what the convex wheels are? Does anyone make repo convex wheels? Pics would be great. Thanks I've ordered a book on F cars....
Good buddy Ryan, you are confusing 348 challenge TB's with 328's (must be late). There are about 40 89 GTB's and I figure about 10 88.5's, total 50. Maybe there are 55, but 50 sounds better, doesn't it? Yer buddy, Dave
GTS = spyder, has the removable or "targa" top GTB = berlinetta, steel top Convex wheels are from '88.5 through '89 to accommodate the ABS (which became standard in '89). Earlier wheels are concave (dished inward in the center). EDIT: See my profile pic for a GTS with concave wheels.
The bottom line is that I plan on buying the nicest car that I can find for my budget but I would be very pleased to find a nice GTB.
Absolutely right, good buddy. I did make a mistake. I was thinking that since there are 100-120 GTB's in the US, half couldn't be 88.5 + 89. So the next number that jumped in my head was 32 but that is, in fact, 348 Challenge cars. Right on. Good catch.
Augustine, I hate to be a tease because they aren't for sale but it is a great fraternity to join and you just might keep it once you fint it. Check these ouot: Image Unavailable, Please Login
You don't have to tantalize me. I already want one badly! The problem is that my patience usually runs out rather quickly. I know that it must be rewarding to find the "perfect" car after a lengthy search but frankly, life is too short. I find it amazing when I hear about guys looking for 1-2 years or more for the right car. I've already looked longer than I normally do and it's only been about two weeks!
Just stick with the Concave Brotherhood. You can always buy hubcaps at Pep Boys if you change your mind!
88 328 GTS 77161 17,790 RED CREME $58,500 http://www.ferraribeverlyhills.com/inventory_77161.htm I've seen it in person. It's a really nice car.
