    RUF CTR2?

    GT2?

    Turbo S?

    Your opinion?

I always had a special place in my heart for the 993, something sub zero cool about it. And the CTR 2 from RUF has to be the ultimate 993. A local one comes up for sale every once in a while, car # 3 (silver) of 27 made, and I'm gonna get it some day!

Exactly what I was thinking. Just have to decide if you want to drive it on the street.

My favourite is the Turbo S (specifically Seinfeld's old blue one).

I will be working on that exact car next week. One of my clients just purchased it and wants to have it brought up to strict concours standards.

Did he pay the 80k premium they wanted just because its ex-Seinfeld?

GT2 for sure...the looks, the racing pedigree & victories, etc. Although I can appreciate the engineering behind the CTR, the Ruf car looks a little wierd from the rear. That CTR rear spoiler was not the most functional design, nor the best looking.

I'm sure part of that premium was for the one-off colour. Not worth an extra $80k though. But it's still my favorite 911.

Doesn't look like it has the riveted flares on it.

Interesting. I never noticed that in the pic. Wish the quality was better.

    +1 I noticed that too. I don't think it's the real deal.

+2. The real McCoy also has got pronounced negative camber on those rear gumballs, hence the 'John Wayne' stance.:)

yup, someone disconnected the viscus coupling on the front, and slapped a GT2 wing and badge on the back. The car has bumperettes too, I doubt a GT2 would have those.

The 993 GT2 was never brought to the U.S., so an authentic one in the states is a very rare find. Most are replicas or are just badged that way.

993s are the best of the Porsches, the last of the aircooled. I would take a 993 GT2 any day.

i was reading through and would of brought that up. If I had a huge budget, I'd love to have that prototype mid engined 993 race car. Not many built.

I personally would like a plain C2 coupe. Perhaps add a supercharger and engine mods to support it. The Turbo S's aren't bad either, I've always been wishy washy on whether I like the flares or not. I know on pre 964 cars I love the flares though.

For me, it was/is the glass roofed C2 Targa - black on black. I like the simple lines - looks almost like a plain coupe until you look closer. When it finally wears out, I think I will try to find a twin turbo in silver on black. Or maybe an older RUF mod but not a RUF vin (cost, gentlemen).
