    Andrea,

The chances that I will be owning another Ferrari next spring are growing every day. For that reason I am trying to anticipate on the well-known beautiful Italian Tuscany rallye. For me it is important that we can set a date at an early stage otherwise it will be very difficult to arrange.
Do you already have any (early) plans? Who will join? Patrick? Simon?

I'll be there. If there is one person who can organise a great rally in Italy with fantastic driving, food, wine and all the rest then its Andrea. The last 2 years were great

I don't care when it is, I'll make time for it :)

    Hi everyone

Yes I do have a date for the Tuscan Rally 2006. We have decided to do it between July 8 and July 15. At that time both Rachel and I will have no trouble getting holidays, it is statistically a "good weather" week in Italy, and the heavy tourist season has not yet begun (i.e. the roads should be free of dutch campers crawling at 30 Km/h :) ).

The preliminary plan involves meeting somewhere in the Alps where we could spend one night, driving some very nice passes and sampling the great local wines.

Then we would simply drive south, cross the Apennines by either the Futa/Raticosa or by the least known but equally fantastic Serramazzoni/Abetone road (classic Ferrari test drivers' route), and we would spend 3 nights in S. Gimignano, enjoying the food, wine, swimming pool with fantastic views, and of course the great roads.

On the way back we could spend 2 nights on the seaside (S. Margherita or Cinque Terre), and enjoy at least one dinner at U'Giancu which is becoming a tradition for our F-chat Rallye! (for all those who've never tried it - you don't know what you're missing!)

This is still a preliminary plan, I have to work on the logistics and on the exact dates. I'm looking forward to everyone's feedback to tailor this trip to suit your needs as much as possible.

    Andrea

Did you hear that Ton? ;)

If its the same place as this year, its stunning. The views are picture book perfect

Definitely prefer S Margherita. Eat at U'Giancu's every night. The only problem is trying to get home after all the wine :)

I just dropped the request for 8-16 july in the mailbox of our secretary! Can we set this date as a definitive date now?

OK! So the only thing that I need now is a Ferrari! :)

Plan A is yes if they'll have us! and then we will probably do a week in the Italian lakes at the end of it. It's a bit early but having got the dates it means it's in the diary and I can't see a reason why we wouldn't go, sounds great

Are you coming, you bar brawling hoodlum :D

Seriously considering it - would you like to consider company for the 2nd part of the trip? No pressure as I know how precious time alone together as a couple can be.

Hi Mark, of course I'll be very happy for you to join! I'd love to have another 550 on the trip - mine was feeling lonely last year, up there miles ahead of the 8 cylinders... ;)

There is a limited number of cars I can accept, though: up to 8 we can all always stay in the same hotels. Beyond 8 I'll have to split the group as the Agriturismo does not have so many rooms. Not a great problem as there are lots of places to stay, but ideally I'd like to keep the group together as much as possible.

What I want to stress is that this is primarily a drivers' trip - we're going to do some of the best mountain and country B-roads in Italy, spending as little time as possible on A-roads and motorways. This means that in a large group it will be better to leave the fast drivers go ahead, and not try to go beyond our own limits just to keep up. It will be very important that everyone knows where we're going and which roads to follow. What I want to avoid is a slow-driving carousel of cars or a dangerous "race" which would also attract the attention of the police.

I will start taking official reservations on PM, starting from this week.

More details on payment / hotels / maps will follow in the next few months.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm, I look forward to what will be a superb Ferrari driving holiday

    Andrea

Thank you, we are more than happy to take the back roads and see the sights at not too fast a pace (My Wife would beat me if we go too fast anyway :) )

As a matter of interest in the past is it normally couples that come?

It's a mix. Two years ago we were all couples, but last year there was one single plus Wolfgang who would also have been a single hadn't he been unable to join us at the last minute.

Either way it doesn't matter, we always have great fun all together in the evenings. Your wife will enjoy the company, my wife is also English and most people are English-speaking.

I am also planning to bring my wife. I think that it is definitely more fun if we do so. It will probably create a completely different social atmosphere which, in my opinion, suits the beautiful setting that we are in.

8 cars is unfortunately not a lot. I am thinking of Andrea, Simon, Patrick, Wolfgang, Didier, Uli. That does not leave a lot of spare beds available. On the other hand I agree that it is probably not as much fun if we have to split the group.

oi! Add Hedge to that please. Looks like we will blow the 8 very easily. Then again, last year many committed and one by one we ended up with 7.

Yes, I think that Andrea will confirm that too. Last year the Tuscany group was not a very large group too.
Nevertheless I don't think that we should see the Tuscany rally as the new European Ferrarichat Rally 2006. The Tuscany rally has a more intimate setting. The official Ferrarichat rally can definitely handle more people.

    just my 2 cents.

This does of course not mean that I have anything to say about the organisation of the Tuscany Rally. I definitely don't!!
I am only trying to say that we also should keep on putting effort in the European Rally for next year.
