Hi: Here is something you don't see every day! I have been wavering about posting this but I think it's the right thing to do and what the hey! Well, luck fell my way and I was able to purchase this car - it ain't a Ferrari, that's for sure - but it's RED!. It was kind of hiding in plain sight for quite some time. I had seen it in the 1980's when I bought guitar strings at the music store Strings and Things on Colfax Ave. in Denver. Well, I was in the right place at the right time and am now the proud owner of The Voxmobile. If you want way more info please check my website www.thevoxmobile.com I was/am stupid enough to make a suit out of Vox grillcloth. OK, I'm a nut! Briefly and unbelievably, the Super Continental organ works perfectly! The Cobra 289 runs GREAT! (that's why I posted in muscle cars) I am working on the wiring - c'mon - it's 40 years old. I have spoken by email with Ed King (Strawberry Alarm Clock) as he was photographed with the car, and I have SAC's greatest hits for the Muntz 8-track in the car. Look, this car will now only play 60's music!!! The car was in the 1968 movie Psych-Out starring Jack Nicholson, and was on the California music shows "Where the Acton Is" and "Groovy". Enjoy the ride!!!

Always have been a fan of the Munster Koach. George Barris built some cutting edge customs back in the day but most of the cars were promos or weird movie cars. I spent a while talking with him, interesting guy.

Sorry to say but in my opinion the creations I have seen of his are not to attractive to say the least.

As a long time Vox lover, I never thought I would see anything Vox related on this board. I can't say I'm in love with the car, but anything Vox related can't be too bad, right!

I traded in an older British Vox for a mahogany Vox AC-15 Handwired last year, not quite as good as their vintage stuff, but a fine sounding amp...but I digress. Good luck with the car!

Keep in mind it was a "different time". Automotive caricatures were big car show attractions in the 60's and 70's.

I had the good fortune to meet Ed "Big Daddy" Roth shortly before he died. He created some immensely popular cars (sold millions of plastic model kits). Very few could be considered practical or anything that you'd want in your driveway today.

Why be sorry - beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Barris is still alive and I think he's about 85. I would love to talk to him.

Nice score. I have a 1965 AC50 head with 2X12 cabinet, Vox Super Beatle Amp as well as an old AC 15. I used to have a Phantom 12 string but sold it to buy a washer and dryer Dumb move.

Who would have thought we'd talk about Vox on this forum - you guys (and gals) are awesome!!! Phantom guitars - try finding those - I bought 3 and it took me months. Very hard to find AND find parts for. Super Beatles - my favorite amp!!! I would post more pics but my pic doesn't show - I guess I'll have to read a little more info here.

Cool car, and a classic photo. I have a nice Constellation IV Bass, that I've owned for 30 years. Hey, it was made in Italia! Looks like this one http://www.voxshowroom.com/us/guitar/constellation_bass.html

Good luck with the refurbishing. BTW, I went to school (jr. high & high) with Barris's daughter Joji. I see George at car functions regularly.

I wish you knew her well - I've heard there are build sheets (from her own people) of the car and I have spoken with her - but she/they are really spooked about giving info out. Don't know why - I've begged, cajoled and pleaded to no avail. I know George got into a little hassle by intimating he built cars that he didn't (i.e., Back to the Future DeLorean) but I would think they would want this car restored to its former glory! Nice Constellation BTW - I love them!

    Hi!
Nice to meet VOX owner and fans here.
May be we must open a topic in the Other Italian forum....

I've got a 1966 Vox Conqueror, a Solid State 60 Watt amp, with nice clean sound and gorgeous reverb. And nice distortion too.
I also have a matching 1966 VOX Super Lynx Deluxe guitar, built in Italy by Crucianelli.

    Best regards,
    Alvaro.
