Months of looking, and now it's out there on a truck to be delivered Monday. I was hoping for the weekend, but no go. AAARGH! I think I am going to go insane!

    John,
Congratulations! Which model is on the way?
Have you located a mechanic near Lynchburg, or elsewhere in central or southwestern VA, that you intend to use for the car? I'm in C'ville, and I've been preparing to shop for my first F-car (most likely a 3X8), but I haven't had any reccomendations for a decent mechanic, even for the "classic" models, closer than NOVA (FoW) or Greensboro.
    Enjoy your new toy.

It sounds like a fantastic car. Maybe I'll see and hear it on the twisties in the Blue Ridge some day. BTW, are you related to Sarah Salmon, DVM (my wife works at her VETS emergency clinic in C-ville)?

I am 2 hours from Sport Auto. I can't see getting it serviced anywhere else, definitely worth the drive. Until I found them, I figured that owning a Ferrari would be impossible due to the service. Now I feel pretty comfortable about it. They are a great dealer to buy from too. They have been looking for a car for me since September, but my list of criteria was pretty selective, and nothing came up. But they did keep me from getting into several cars that would have been very, very wrong.

I am in central VA, quite a drive from atlantic city. Not near as many F-chatters out this way. Would love to see that change, though.

Sorry, no relation to Sarah (but she has a great last name!)

well, I think it would be great if you came to this http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=90393. Even if you do not play golf, you can still hang out, have some great food, look at some awesome cars, meet fchatters, etc etc.

Being in Lynchburg, you're about the same distance from Sport Auto as I am from FoW, so I'll be in the same situation when I finally get my F-car. I'll be relieved if this turns out to be a non-issue for you.

    John -

Be sure to check the www.fca-nc.com website. We have a drive to Smith Mt. Lake in a few weeks to watch the Malaysian F1 race. After the race, we'll probably take a "spirited" drive through some of Franklin County's more remote roads.

I had to wait 2 weeks for mine , it's just part of the initiation into the world of Ferrari. Talking to the driver on the way, him giving me updates as to when he thinks he'll arrive, all great memories now.
A quick tip: Video the arrival, it's priceless !

Congrats. I know what you're going through - bought my 328 from Sport Auto in December, had it serviced there and some follow up stuff that resulted in a delay in transport. Car's now supposed to be here the week after next.

I probably could have got the car sooner, but Steve Barney was selective about what shippers to use, and frankly I'd rather wait another week and have it arrive in perfect shape.

Plus, I already have the certificate of title with 'Ferrari' on it, which should be fine for bar-hopping this weekend.

I got the title a few days ago... Very sweet!

Did you get the black/tan 328? If so, that is a sweet looking car. The 328 is still the most timeless shape to me. Isn't it funny how these cars are just criss-crossing the country?

Congratulations, John. Drive it in good health. Monday's just a few hours away.

Jon, Same sentiment, again. Congratulations and drive your new Ferrari in good health. You're having the car delivered to you safely which is a wise decision and worth the extra wait. I'm looking forward to pictures that you'll post.

I bought my car in January, 2002 and drove it 60 miles home in a snow and sleet storm. I learned that Michelin XWXs are excellent "all season tires."

Yes, that's the one. I was seduced by the dark (metallic) side. I'll post pics when it finally arrives. (The photo in my profile is the Sport Auto photo sent by Steve Jones.)

Wow, hope they don't torture me with photos of the car being loaded up. I have to pretend to be productive at work for those two weeks in transit, and the last thing I need is another dozen Ferrari pics on my PC...

Perfect choice on the red 355, though. My budget was leading me to 355's that frankly didn't hold a candle to the one you got, so when the 328 came back to Sport Auto (in trade on a sharp blue Boxer) I figured Someone Upstairs was trying to tell me something.

Anyway congrats again. A great 355 is a special car. I have a tubi on the 328, but I've heard a 355 with a tubi is about the best symphony available in the V-8 Ferrari songbook...

Sharp-eyed readers will note the red car going into the truck. ;)

Thanks Barry. Don't want to hijack JS's thread, though.
