I ordered a MINI Cooper S last week. Its currently in production, expected to be finished by Monday. After that, it'll take another 4-6+ weeks to cross the pond and get through the inspection/delivery network. I can't imagine how people waited nearly a year during the early years, and how the people on the West Coast still have to wait.

I was really up between the new GTI and the S. The GTI is a great car, but was just a bit too refined for me. The sound deadening really reduces the sensation of speed. As infrequently as I drive (about 5k mi/yr), I really wanted an engaging car. I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face after driving the MINI, I knew immediately it was my car. The revised exhaust and fuel management program that makes a popping in the exhaust on decel sealed the deal.

Dark Silver with white roof. My only options were white bonnet stripes, LSD, cruise control, chrome interior, and the H/K stereo. Otherwise, a stripper. Better to keep the weight down.

    Motor on.

Congrats on the new car, Jeremy :) I test drove one of those a couple of years ago, and it was a LOT of fun

Thanks. Yeah, I've caught a bit of flack from some of my more "image concious" friends, but screw 'em. I drive what I want, and I expect everybody else to do the same.

And besides, MINI knows who its demographic is. The Unauthorized Owner's Manual shows you how to use the headlights in the hood to illuminate trees, looking for your short-skirt wearing "sexy neighbor's" cat.

There're fun cars indeed. When you fill up your washer fluid remember there are two bottles to fill up if you have head lamp washers. One on the left and one on the right. One for the windshield and one for the head lamps.

Also, the hood release is on the passenger side foot well wall.

    Have fun!

I am going to school in oxford right now, and the MINI plant is about 15 minutes away in Cowley, have to look out for your car. Going to do the factory tour soon, a friend of mine has the Mini Cooper Park Lane, its really cool. Congrats
