So what is it like in your neck of the woods? We had off and on rain here on the westside of Houston but the wind has been ferocious and I had to recover our trash cans from the street this morning. Currently the wind has died down but the rain is falling hard now.

Texas weather you gotta love it simply because if you want it to change just wait a minute :D .

Biggest downpour I've seen in a very long time. Everything is underwater around here, there are huge puddles everywhere.

My computer faces a window and I just spotted another one of our trash can lids across the street lol and it is raining so hard there is less than 6ft of road between curbs that is not flooded.

This would be a perfect day to light the fireplace and snuggle but I have no snuggle friend, crap now I'm depressed lol!!! :D

When our drain plug gets clogged with debris our entire back patio floods all the way up to our back door. So being the trooper that I am I stripped down to my shorts and unclogged the drain, could be on YouTube soon lol. Kinda reminded me though of the days when I and one of my past girlfriends would walk in the rain and enjoy a sort of spiritual cleansing, good times.

Can anyone imagine what kind of snowstorm this could have been if it were cold enough to freeze?

I've decided to expound on my rain experience.

My house has a flat roof. It leaks on occassion. It has for a while, but when it's not raining, it's not a problem. :)

The leak is in my bathroom, so I prepared last night. Got out the little bucket I always use. Surrounded it with towels and went to bed. I woke up about 1:30 when thunder hit, and decided to make a pit stop. The little bucket was maybe 20% full, so I emptied it and myself and went back to sleep.

At 5:30 I heard a weird noise. My little bucket had overflowed hours earlier, and I had half an inch of standing water in the bathroom. I soaked every towel mopping it up, and got a bigger bucket. New bucket was 2.5 gallons and was filling every 15 minutes. BIG leak, LOTS of rain. No more sleep for me. I had to stay awake to empty the bucket.

As soon as the sun was up, I put on my rain coat and my waterproof boots, and I headed to the roof. Never had a leak this bad. Both scuppers were clogged with leaves and pine needles which allowed the pooled water to get as high as my skylights. I cleaned the scuppers and took my big push broom and started pushing water off the side of the house. It was a LOT of water. Nice way to start the day, a 7:15 drenching on the roof.

Yes, I'm getting a new roof. I'm also arguing with my insurance company and trying to find a roofer that isn't terrified of flat roofs.

Never buy a house with a flat roof.

Started a thread in Silver about the coverage.

Absolutely nothing I haven't seen before and doesn't warrant the coverage it's getting. Two weeks ago was much worse.

Most of DFW got a big downpour yesterday. It's been on and off today. A creek that runs at the back of my property was out of its banks this morning, with a "High Water" sign blocking access to a low bridge.

Me too. It was raining sideways and swirling in all directions. I now have a large cooler in my attic catching water. Luckily it is just a vent hole problem.

I am really glad my basement pumps were working during the storm.

Just North of Dallas in Collin County we had a very heavy downpour all night. Big lightening and thunder too. I live in a steel building (roof and outside walls) and it was loud in here last night. That was probably the loudest storm in the four years I have lived in this building.

No flat roof here :) but rain blew in through the ridge vent at the peak of the A frame. Nothing bad and I haven't found any water damage in the attic...

We needed the rain badly, but is that minute up? I want to drive my car! ;)
