Looks like the cast base needs a cleanup as well. There are,as you possibly know,specialists in these sort of items......stay the fork away from them! If you can find a good sheetmetal shop and painter they will be able to do the job without stupid inflated 'expert' prices...ie American restorations and the like. In fact the fuel companies,Shell is amazing with this,usually have an historical department you can liase with. Just recently a mate asked me to date an exceptionally rare Shell lubricant booklet from the late '30's,Shell Holland were great in their interest and response.
Yep just got a quote for just under 5K to restore it.....It's not even worth that even if I got it for free....They can't be that hard to restore?
