What I find incredible is how easily we surrendered our right to self determination.

In the name of computer models built by "experts", the political and administrative class have switched us to a centrally planned, house arrest society in the space of 3 weeks. When CoVid is "over", life will not return as it was, the powers granted to the state will not be rescinded, we will have moved the balance of society significantly away from individual rights.

The long march of the left continues.

I was involved in the early days of a thing called Commercialisation Australia, a programme run by the Dept of Industry to assist Aussie companies commercialise their technology. The core of the program was a group of volunteer advisors, usually tech people with a track record of success taking local technology to global markets. The program was cheap to run and very effective. That couldn't be allowed to continue...

Today I received an email announcing $100m of taxpayer money being handed out to run the program for the next 3 years. Not fund it mind you, just administer it.

"The contracts included $31.9 million to Deloitte Consulting; $31.9 million to the industrial lobby Australian Industry Group; and $30.3 million to a small Victorian commercialisation consultants i4 Connect – each providing business facilitation and advice services for the different parts of the Entrepreneurs Programme.

....I4 Connect managing director Norm Jenkins said the company currently had just three employees in the business....Mr Jenkins said i4 Connect would revamp the Commercialisation Australia roster of business advisers. While there was “incredible skills and capability” among the current network of advisers, he said this was an opportunity for a fresh approach. Mr Jenkins committed i4 Connect to building a much greater diversity of advisers into the national roster – with a much greater diversity of age, gender, culture and industry background among the team he is putting together."

So forget about attracting people who actually know how to do something, what's more important is diversity of age, gender, culture. So expect 25 year old females from non anglo backgrounds. How many people like that have built successful technology businesses from Australia? Zip.

Soo the i4 connect company has a total of 4 individuals in total on its payroll, and approximately 10M per year to cover a very expensive office, astronomical running costs and fabulous salary packages I want a job there

When he hit that tree at 100-ish mph, all we heard was his heartbeat. Then he picked the bike up and got going again and still beat the 2nd place guy by 15 minutes!
