I agree Greg it’s ,like restoring an old car...Nothing is off the shelf and it all has to be made or sourced , even down to imperial tiles for the bathrooms...It’s a labour of love that’s for shure....We have done the house and are now doing the 2 1840s barn Conversions...We have sourced everything over time , including Adrians help getting the French doors ofF an 1860s house in Town. We are waiting now for 10 sets of cast iron French Pewter Door mechanisms that we sourced over there...It’s taken us ages to find everything but well worth it and very satisfying...I’ll post some pics soon..If I had the time I’d definitely take on the Windsor Home..
We’ve been renovating our place for over 20 years now as we bought it off the original owners...I’ll die here and be buried so the kids can’t sell it....Some old photos from a few years ago... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Stunning place mate! It looks just like an old English estate. I’ve always wanted something like that. Was the car garage converted from stables? What suburb is that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep the bastard is not that far away...I might need a full time job trimming his hedges soon the way things are going ( and FO PP I’m not doing yours you whomo)...
She’s a gem Gary, you could be somewhere in Hertfordshire, beautifully proportioned and that shed[emoji15] good for you [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
So if I say PP lives in Toorak he’s now more of a target for burglars? Stupid post. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gizz it’s consumed our life restoring it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way...As Greg said you end up as a custodian of a piece of history but very satisfying...Would I do it again...Yes 100%..
I’m always scouring the world for missing bits Adrian...It’s like a life long treasure Hunt..we restored a grade II listed 17th Century mill in the UK and I’ve still got the bug!..

No worries Malaka ....I dig out my 1986 Aussie rules shorts...I’ll send you some proof shots to make sure Ian’s happy....
Ah, you’d get on with Mike, my dad, he’s restored 30 odd in as many years, mainly in the north of England around Cheshire, some kept original, others turned into apartments, tastefully of course [emoji4]and a couple in Europe but all old places, he loves the searching for bits n pieces, he got a place called pepper cottage in Cheshire, built in the 1600s which was the old post office, it had woodworms in the main joist, it was a piece of wood from a galleon of the day, he had to go to Cornwall to bid at auction for a piece of timber off a 1600s galleon to replace the bad one because it was a grade 1 listed building and had to be period, it was fun getting that in place [emoji849] Last one before the move to Oz at 85 n 87 years old [emoji51](when they can get a flight [emoji849]) Image Unavailable, Please Login is Longford lodge built in 1820 by a Portuguese wine merchant Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Your house looks big enough to move the family and I all in re vlaka! To help pay my living costs there, I will help you and Gary with the yard work. I will also bring my favourite shorts over. I wore these same shorts when I helped Horse do the yard work at his place when we all lived there 10 years ago. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love it Gary, obviously has been a real labor of love for you. We bought our house freshly renovated in ‘99 and although built around 1870, had been modernized and changed substantially so no heritage worries for us. On a very large, for suburban Brisbane, block. It was the original farm for the area and the street across the road shares its name with the house as it was the driveway. Much like you, I always thought I’d be here for ever. Lately we had been talking about downsizing, our daughter is now 19 and it’s a big house and garden, however after being locked down here I’m not going anywhere!! Good decision Jon.....If you sold you would regret it for the rest of your life...And probably have nightmares about it as well...
