    I’ve always had a fireplace in pretty much every house I’ve ever lived in, however when we built, we didn’t include a fireplace, despite living in the middle of a State Forest with access to unlimited firewood.

    Love the smell from our neighbours fireplace though.

    When we build next, we think we might have a look at a gas fireplace because it gets coolish up that way. Just won’t let Carl near it.

    In the meantime ...........

    Our house came with a fireplace, but it's tucked off to one side, not in the centre of the lounge. I don't know what they were thinking. Still nice on a cold night, though.

    Yep, more efficient that way. Our lounge is too large for the fire to make much difference heating-wise, but it's great to sit and stare...
