We'll know when we know. In the meantime, the wind increases the risk of power outages where I live, so I've pulled out the generator and extension leads.

Cyclone, hurricanes, etc are all big rain, wind

The Christmas day destruction we had was from tornadoes, the destruction was just the same, all the trees in the runaway bay were ripped out, Tambourine was destroyed and we had no power for a week

They’re saying it could be the worst storm to hit the area since 1954.

I wasn’t alive then, obviously, but most of you guys were probably in your 30s or 40s.

    What was it like?

He has been noticeably absent, but Bill Gates' wife is standing in. (Not the computer guy, the DJ that gave the BeeGees their start and who raced a Lotus Elan 26R)

So, I talked the daughter out of a horse riding holiday in Tajikistan. Now she is off to Greece for a month in September - primarily Paros, Naxos and Crete bookended by a few days in Athens. The guy she was travelling with now can't go due to scoring a gig in Antarctica running an airfield. The question for my Greek friends (not just those who like Greek.. ) is things to see or avoid? Issues facing a single white girl travelling on her own? She is not inexperienced, having travelled solo all over Asia and America but first venture into Europe. Thanks in advance.

I’m heading back there in a couple of weeks. When in Athens, she should not stay in the Omonia Square area, full of drug addicts. Everywhere else is safe, usual pick pockets like the rest of Europe. So much to see in Athens, if she has limited time, then definitely the Acropolis and if she’s into history, then the Benaki Museum is excellent showcasing ancient to modern times. There’s an awesome car museum too https://www.hellenicmotormuseum.gr/en/

Crete, she will need a car to get around and must visit the various places the ANZACS fought, cemeteries and memorials etc :)

Thanks Greg. She is a history tragic, the Acropolis and Benaki are already on her list.

Well, I solved the problem of her travelling alone. I talked her into adding a couple of weeks in Italy so now my wife and I will be joining her (a trip to the Vatican sealed it for my not very good catholic wife). Anyway, we will be putting in a few days in Bologna doing the museums - art and history for Tracey and Kate - cars for me. Question is, apart from Ferrari, the 2 Lambo and Maserati museums, has anyone done the Ducati museum? Worth it? Thanks
