Well there's the main problem...the engine's in the FRONT. I think the transvetite joke was "A kit car is like a guy dressed in drag; it's not real & you're not fooling anyone." ......or maybe one would have to be REALLY drunk (& deparate) to even TRY not to notice.....UGH, scary even thinking about that. This car is in Garland, TX (near me, kinda) but has a area code "405" phone number? That's not correct for the area. Maybe I'll go look at it.....oh, why waste the gasoline.... I have seen completed Camaro/Firebird kit car "ferraris" (not using the capital "F" cause it isn't a real Ferrari) that made the car look like a "308" and another that tried to copy a Testarossa they look WAY too big for what they are trying to copy. What a waste of time. Ricers trying this? I have seen Toyota MR2's (2nd generation) that have 348 bodies on them...kinda like the better 355 spider or 308 coupe/Fiero kits...."fairly" convincing from a distance. Please buy & drive the real deal people because otherwise you are giving the uneducated public masses a VERY unrealistic impression of what a REAL Italian exotic looks like....style, fit, finish, sound, not to mention preformance.
...WORST I have EVER seen in a very old kit car magazine, was a Ford Pinto converted into a 308....Ford door handles protruding from the side air veins running down the doors & all. Some guy (the owner/builder stated that he always wanted a 308, so he decided to make his own. What a joke. If I can ever find the picture of it, I'll post it to be printed as dart board fodder....
You forgot this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Corvette-1987-Chevrolet-Corvette-Ferrari-Body-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6168QQitemZ4599497545QQrdZ1 I don't quite understand just how this GM has a "Ferrari Style bodykit." The owner must be retarded to the nth degree.
Unfortunatly that message will not get to the right builders......if we could only cut of the supply of emblems and plastic filler.
I actually built one of those. It was never designed to be a Ferrari replica. Mine came out awesome, although the kit was a quality nightmare. Some of you may know I build kits for a living. Mostly Cobras and Shelby Daytonas. You would not believe the looks I got in that car. Nobody knew what it was, but a lot of people did think it was a Ferrari.
Check out this link. I take a lot of pride in my work. http://a8.cpimg.com/image/A0/70/10121888-aa32-02000180-.jpg this car won best of show at almost all car shows that I brought it to. Even if others dont like them, Replicas and kits do serve a purpose. I have a replica of a 1965 Shelby Cobra and a 1965 Shelby Daytona. Both are better cars than the originals, and I can afford them. You probably couldnt buy a real Daytona if you wanted to. there were only 6 ever built. Here is the link to my K-1 Evoluzione kit. ( not Ferrari replica) http://members5.clubphoto.com/michael353152/533732/owner-3f3a.phtml
Finished like that it does look good. As I suspected, it is not a Ferrari replica, but a nice kit for a Camaro. Nothing wrong with that if done properly. Michael, welcome to FChat btw! What state are you in?
I am in Masachusetts. I do not own a ferrari, but am looking to purchase one in 2006. That is my new years resolution. I am leaning towards a 308 or 348, but would really like a Testarossa. Price is going to be the deciding factor.
Have you guys seen this 1999 F355 kit car?? IT aint bad at all(for a kit car) Not sure about the interior but.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-F355-FERRARI-F355-REPLICA-ONE-OF-THE-BEST-AVAILABLE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6212QQitemZ4599775828QQrdZ1 Image Unavailable, Please Login
i have to admit, it is a good replica. if the back were lowered a little, i might actually mistake for a real one if it were driving in the opposite direction on the highway..
I was going to mention that this was not a "Ferrari" replica but an independent design. It does have some Italian influence but it is not meant to be an Fcar by the manufacturer. Some of the people who buy them, well that is a different story. I personally like the Evoluzione and considered building one but decided to save my pennies for a Ferrari someday. This thread should be bashing the yahoo that is calling it a Ferrari Rep to try to sell his money pit.
Yeah, you are right. If it did a drive by,you would be hard pressed to pick the difference(except for the lack of a Ferrari engine note maybe ). They have done a good job. I have seen the car for sale on ebay a few times now. Cant seem to sell it??
