Hi eveybody, After a tought job, my website is finally finished. You will find all the cars imported in France by Jean Thépenier and John Simone from 3500 GT to the Biturbo production (the son of Jean Thépenier, Jean-loup tried to continue the aventure for a while until the late 80's). I would be very happy to receive photos of cars that immigrate to the States to illustrate my site. it is only the beginning, so it needs to be updated, some informations are missing but I am working on it with Fabio Collina. Best Regards Angus The name of the site is : THEPENIER-MASERATI-REGISTER http://www.bruchservices.fr/doniot/index.html
it would be great to know how you got that done! that is great. I will may find the Merak I bought fom them 2nd hand in 1982 Edit: just checked it. I will research my old vin. Was a 77 Merak SS that was sold to a doctor as a Xmas gift to a .. nice lady who did favors.... Seems like there are 32 candidate in that list at 1st glance. do you have the same data on Lambos? That would be awsome! Outstanding work there!
Interesting info about the Mistral #109.058. According to your records the car was delivered new to THEPENIER -St.Cloud, France and sold to 1st owner Prince Agha Khan on 1. July 1964. Seems that there is a 2nd car with that VIN existing: This 2nd #109.058 was sold in Dec. 1964 to its 1st owner from Varese, Italy and was later owned by Corrado Augusta CEO of MV AUGUSTA. This car was located in 2001 in the UK, owned by Mr. S.K.
I noticed that there was one 3500 GT Coupe by Vignale on the list. I don't think I have ever seen a photo of such a car. Anyone? Thanks. Gabriel
3500 GT Coupe Vignale = #101.1335 = Sebring Prototype About the # 109.058, another Maserati mystery ??? Aga Khan 's model has electric windows.
Sebring #101.1335, now owned by a collector in the USA. ©: ph.: Walter Bäumer, 2012 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Angus, I wonder if you have any access to the records for Lamborghinis imported by Thepenier. I am the owner of 40006 the first production Silhouette, specially trimmed for the 1976 Paris show and delivered to Thepenier on 01.10.76. The car could not be registered due to lack of type approval, was sold to a Regis Bothorel (date unknown) and was finally registered on 23.07.80. Unsurprisingly it was the only Silhouette sold in France! Any information you might have would be much appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Original colour : Rosso Interior : Senape Price : 82280 F Date of Invoice by Lamborghini : 27/09/1976 Telaio e Motore N° 40006 The lamborghini chapter is next one but not my priority for the moment My archives are not as complete as Maser. Angus

Hello all: I concur with all the positive things said so far: Frederic "Angus 81" has an amazing archive of Thepenier documents part of which I had to pleasure to review in person some weeks ago and some of which will be reproduced in my book: if you own a car sold by the late good guy Jean Thepenier then you should really go ahead and get your file.
Good to know that, these docs will be collector's items in 10 years time so no need to rush, restore your car first, see you in 2022....
Hi, no problem for writing in english, it was just an aside for Angus81. I hope that my car will be back on the road soon but don't worry not in 2022!
Hello Walter: 1. I own Mistral Coupe AM 109 056 (3700) - 1964 title - delivered 15 July 1964 to Dr. Mari Morosini (?) in Rome - only one car away from the AM 109 058 you are referring to. 2. I note that AM 109 058 - 1965 title -was delivered new to an owner in Varese. I have another Mistral Coupe AM 109 196 that was owned by a gentleman that also lived in Varese Mr. Attilio Baldioli (he owned a bus company in Milan that was the official purchaser S.A.S Milanese Casermaggie di Porta & C). He sold it in 1972 to a Canadian who lived in Varese and he eventually brought the Mistral here to Vancouver in 1977 or thereabouts - I bought the car from him last year - so three documented owners back to it's origins. Cheers, Colin
Colin, thanks for your infos. Not sure but I have a Luke Halogh from Sedro Wooley.WA./USA, who had the #109.196 in 1987. Is that correct?
I was surprised to see that the Bora outsold the Merak by quite a margin (47 vs. 34) in France. Since three times as many Meraks were made in total, this seems a bit strange. Perhaps the French preferred the other cars with a C-114 engine - the SM and the Ligier - and/or perhaps Meraks were also imported by Citroën and sold through their distributors? In other words: Was Thepenier the exclusive importer in France, or were there other channels as well? Best, Gabriel
Thepenier was the exclusiv importer for France. In total they sold no less than 684 cars also to the UK and to Sweden. After Citroen took over Maserati the successfull relationship with Maserati came to an end - so not many Meraks were sold by them in France. Thepenier then sold Lamborghini and Jensen in France. They got a new name (SAMAF) and they finished their operation s in the late (?) 80s.
Gabriel Take the Time to read the Maserati letter first page of my site, that tells you about Thepenier in France. The Merak was too "Citroënised" for the Maserati aficionados and too "italianised" for a Citroën Addict. At the time The Merak had a very bad reputation, because of engine problems. French automotiv press was quite tough with the "little Bora"
