    You are missing all of the thermostat/valve assembly. These parts are no longer available. The fix is to have a relief machined into one side of the housing to accept a modern thermostat with a seal and gasket. A reproduction of this thermostat/housing has already been manufactured that has this modern thermostat in it. You can purchase it from Parker Hall at Kilimanjaro Designs. I don't know which modern thermostat fits in this housing. You will have to take some measurements and do some research to find a suitable thermostat.

    Seems like the modern thermo is a better way to go......

    Ed, 1950's Aston Martins (with Lagonda motors) have a similar thermostat. You may have better luck finding those. Kevin Kay Restorations in Redding might be a good place to ask about these thermostats, if they are available, etc.
