Has anyone replaced them? Wondering if they are thread locked in or anything I assume the double nut technique will back them out?

never had to replace unless broken off. Double nut and pb blaster works. collet stud remover works. Cam style stud killer works.

I'll try the cam style next engine out. When I put back the thermostat I used lock nuts from the Homemade Depot metric section.

This is the second time thier hardware had ruined studs. First time was shock tower studs. Only used 1 before I bought new oem studs and nuts. I just bought a grip of various sized nuts from Ferrari for now. The oem nuts are holding but the thermostat studs are jacked and threads are damaged you can feel it.

McMaster Carr is proobnly a good source too, home Depot and Lowe's, thier hardware is awful. It as if they are sae and are mismarked they seem to fit when test fitting and running down with fingers then bam, cross threaded studs when tightning.

    Thanks.
