I parked my black 328 outside a restaurant once and when I got back a black C6 Corvette had parked corner to corner with me. The Ferrari is certainly lower, and the fender curve has more sweep to it, but there's no doubt that especially from the 1984 (Jerry Palmer-designed) 'Vette GM has had the 308/328 and now the 360/430 tacked to its studio walls.

Overall, a good thing, although GM has never come close to the right proportions.

Actually I thought that by Harley Earls own comments the C2 63-67 was a take off of the Etype?

None. But even Chevy got embarrassed with the disco-era mako shark idea and canned it in '82. Safety bumpers absolutely ruined the concept.

Its a camaro in the front and a ford gt in the back, its ugly. Plus I dont think there is a comparison between corvette and ferrari at all, i dont see a difference.

I thought I read somewhere that the 1968 redesign (which was presumably inked a few years before) explicitly employed cues from the GTO.

Saw that in road and track today. There is a similarity but I don't think the vette pulls it off. Something about it doesn't look right to me.

Then again I think the bright orange color doesn't really help.

Front grille is reminiscent of 1950s-60s Ferraris, venting behind wheels resemble those on the 250 GTO (as well as the Bizzarrini 5300, Iso Griffo and other 60s Italian designs), rear pillars are obviously inspired by the 599 GTB and the switch to single tail lights (per side) might be as well.

C3 was inspired by the 1964 250 GTO.

Wow - never saw them photographed from the same angle like that. Pretty blatant, now that I see it, although it shows that copying great design doesn't necessarily lead to more great design.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. ;)

When the press release for the 599 came out very few people that I can remember actually liked it. Now that I've seen one it's one of my favorites.

Unfortunately I do not share your opinion. I love old 'Vettes. The new ones really don't do it for me though.

The only Corvette I like (aesthetically speaking) is the C3. Perhaps thats because it's similar to the 64' 250 GTO.
