Porsche racing team Rennsport-one was delivered a gut-wrenching blow by thieves in South Florida.

Thieves strolled onto the parking lot of a race garage in Florida and stole a tractor hauling a trailer that contained four Porsche race cars, auto parts, and assorted gear. The contents of the trailer are worth about $1.5 million dollars, according to the owner of the professional racing team targeted by the thieves, Rennsport-one.

What are they going to do with them? Easy to ID. No one will buy them. Those can't be easy to sell not even for parts.

I assume the thieves just want the trailer. this happens all the time, as I’m sure you know. happened after Amelia Island either this year or last.

the tractor was recovered but trailer and cars are still missing. I bet cars are found ditched somewhere

Sorry to hear about this. I bet the cars are being stripped for parts or, on a boat to some foreign land.

It’s amazing that in all that equipment there aren’t any tracking devices active?

This has been happening a lot lately. They steal the truck and dismantle it to sell the parts. They do not want the cars. They want the parts from the truck.

It's been happening all over south Florida. It is dismantled and shipped to Africa, South America, or indirectly to Russia. It is organized crime.

They did the same thing to 8 Star Motorsports in my old shop just two miles north some years back.

It’s very common here. There is a known place in the Redlands where they take them and strip them. They remove all the trackers and probably have everything in cargo containers going overseas in a blink. Police really don’t do much if anything at all.

    Hey Greg,

I’m at The Glen this weekend and someone here is very close to the Rennsport association. Apparently the cars had a value north of $1.25MM, I would imagine the parts alone make it worth the risk.

Shame this has come to our sport and has become yet another liability of owning a race car.

They updated their post last night that it had been found. I think the car and trailer were in different locations.
