I will be in Daytona Sunday and Monday (March 29-30). Going to the swap meet at the speedway on Sunday. Are there any other "must see" automotive venues I should check out on Monday? Cool dealerships, etc.

    Thanks in advance.

There was a car museum right next to where the Flea Market is (about 3 miles west of the speeday at the light past the entrance to 95) , but I am not sure if it is still there. At the Flea Market they have helicopter rides in the field nearby that take you out along the beach. There are a lot of motorcycle dealerships around there, but not many car dealerships that have anything interesting. Take the tour of the racetrack and do the Daytona Expereince where you get to time yourself as a pit crew member.

They have some car race simulator games, but they are overrated. They are like a video game at an arcade except that the seat moves and tilts during the race to make you feel the g forces.

You can take a ride south on A1A towards Ponce Inlet and see where they used to race.

There is a race monument on the beach that tells the history of motorcycle racing on the beach.

One of the original Krispy Kremes, where you can still watch them make their heart healthy glazed donuts. Fresh and warm, they are incredible. Went there the morning of the Daytona 500. North side of International Speedway Blvd, about two miles east of the Speedway.

The car museum mentioned earlier, used to belong to Mark Martin, but I believe he sold it. Other than Daytona USA, the flea market (Thanksgiving is the best), Daytona is a useless place if there is no racing. And during Bike Week, forget it, I think they kill 4 or 5 bikers every year on the streets of Daytona during this event.

Daytona Beach isn't that bad guys. I live about 40 minutes from there and go there alot for what-not.

There are some great things to do at the track, the flea market is cool in a weird way, I happen to love bike week, and the beach is one of the few you can drive on.

It's not the nicest city in central FL, but it is much better then it was 10 years ago. Ponce Inlet, just south, is beautiful. Where the orginal race was, there is a lighthouse you can see and some good places to eat.

Some good clubs and bars too if your into that.

I prefer the South side of Daytona (New Symrna). Ponce Inlet is nice (north side) but I prefer the south because of the waves. Has the sharkiest waters in FL tho!

They have a pokerroom now in Daytona that is kind of fun.

OK, officially there was very little to do automotive wise. We had a great experience at Ocean Deck Beach Club, and enjoyed the beach. We satisfied our automotive cravings with a trip to Lamborghini of Orlando and Ferrari of Central Florida.

Look for a thread about my visit to those dealers soon.
