On the road today, I picked up a Drumstick. Not having one in over ten years, it sounded REALLY good! I remember eating them all the time when I was a kid and they were Yummo-o! And when you got to the cone, you would bite the bottom and it was like a milkshake! What happened? This was one of the worst things I have eaten in a LONG time! While eating this chemically spiked 'thing', it was sad to think that this long-time great brand I enjoyed as a kid has been transformed into an inedible wreck!

    What do you miss?

    I forgot about pogs!

I do miss certain choclates and candy that does not exist anymore, and I would gladly pay the double to get a taste of the tastes I remember.
Good times, having almost no pocket money, but when you finally got some spare cash, the candy shop always was next.

my grand aunt invented those things during the second world war to supplement the dairy biz. They went to Fort Knox base.

    just a little useless tidbit.

I miss the great song writers of yesteryear....

Screaming Yellow Zonkers. I used to get them when I was young living in Houston but when I moved to Fort Worth they became difficult to find. I later found them at various speciality stores but sadly they have been discontinued since last year.

Banana Beick candy. 1"x1" x 1/2" squares of chewy but not gooey candy, superb texture and fake-banana taste. Were $.01 apiece when I was a kid, I'd load up on allowance day.

I haven't seen it in stores here that sell retro-candy, may be available online, but haven't looked. For me, candy=addiction.

    What the heck is that?

Another one of mine are the clip-on candle holders for Christmas trees. Probably nothing more beautiful than real candles on the tree, and they ARE quite safe when placed properly. Had them when I was a kid. Dad would light them (Slow burning type that were about 3/8th wide) and turn out the lights in the living room. That is probably the most cherished memories I have from childhood.

How about: A lot of time to waste on whatever you want? And only having to have to do some ridiculous (in hindsight) homework for school? THOSE WERE THE DAYS!

    Stress free days.

I grew up pretty poor so there wasn't much I had back then that I miss now. There are plenty of good times I miss. Times with zero stress.

As for the drumsticks, I have a box of them in the freezer right now. I have a lot stuff around the house like that to make up for nor having it when I was a kid.
