thinking 328 to a 355?

328s are Great Looking Cars, but their Performance is "Lacking".
FYI : 355s are '95-'99. Mid 98-99 have the Steel Guides. All well eventually need their Headers & Cats replaced. Yes on average a 355 will cost more to maintain than a 328, but to me it is worth it. Test Drive 1

 

Just made that switch 2 weeks ago---So far I am loving it. The cars are not even close performance wise..

 

I just made the swich at the end of June. Totally different experience. Still smiling as much now as the day I drove it home.

Replaced my 328 with a 355 a few months ago, they are totally different cars, after driving my 355 for awhile then my last drive with my 328 it really felt like an antique, the handling is phenominal in the 355 as well since you can precisely steer the car with the throttle from its power and weight bias, something you can't do with a 328 to that degree. Power is a huge diference as well. I don't miss my 328 at all since replaced with the 355

 

Andrew, I made the switch two years ago...it was worth it...expensive but worth it. Like you, I was spending quite a bit on maintenance on my 328 (chasing FI issues, major service, radiator, etc.) so decided, "what the heck". Costs have not been tremendously more, but watching prices fall, I can see I am taking a huge hit on depreciation...but no one is having as much fun as me! No regrets, and I continue to drive the stink out of my car!

My 328GTS was/is a terrific car, with Tubi exhaust and that wonderful looking body...I still see the owner at Club meets and he and his wife are enjoying the car immensely.

 

I stepped from a 328 to 355. The difference in all respects (performance, sound, interior, maintenance cost, etc) is like turning on a light in a dark room. The 328 feels dated and even though it is a true Ferrari, the difference the 10+ years between my 355 and the 328 can truly be seen and felt. I am not looking back.

I traded up in March of this year after owning a 328 GTS for 5 years.
The 355 is a completely different animal, power, sound, looks, and performance. More expensive to maintain yes, just did engine out and new headers but it was anticipated at the time of sale.

 

+1 on the trade up and no looking back for me either. One drive and you won't even remember why you hesitated to switch.

 

Send a PM to BrianC on this site. He had a 328 for a couple of years and a 355 for about a year before he sold it. He no longer owns either car and can give you the hard truth about either model.

 

Its pretty impressive that so many people did the switch and have opinions to lend - thats why this site is great!

I already own a 355, but I've appreciated reading the comments just the same.

 

Had 2 328s over the last 6 years and went to a 355 last winter.

355 is a much wider car and doesn't "fit you like a glove" like the 328 did (IOW - it's not cramped inside). Seats on the 355 give much better support.

The only thing that I really miss is the transversely mounted engine against your back. The 328 sounds better and more 'raw' when winding up the revs. There's more of a visceral experience.

But no regrets. Much more power, much quicker throttle response, way better handling! Seems to get more looks than the 328 did...
