I have owned my F 456 1997 with 37k for a while now.... I have replaced the window regulators, fuel pumps, dash all in the last year ( I also just did the belt service last week). I must have 25k in receipts. Anyway I am thinking about selling it and I have no idea what it is worth. I currently own 5 fcars and it is time to unload one..... can anyone please help with a good number? If the number is too low I may just keep it.

Assuming the cosmetics are close to perfect (interior: no shrinking leather, sticky control surfaces, etc. exterior paint, wheels and tires in top shape), you are probably looking at between $30 and $40K, IMO. It's not an M and the mileage is considered on the high side for a Ferrari, dumb though that idea is (mine has 58K miles and is probably in the same price range, even though it's an M and has had new valves and guides).

If it is all original, with the pouch for the manuals, the maintenance records, the inspection light, the tool kit, the tire inflation can, the luggage set, the car cover and the bag for the car cover, then it is probably worth more.
These cars are out of the mainstream and the prospective buyers are not attracted by the 360, 430 and the likes.
    Just my opinion of course....

Cool cars, but they are not worth much. You have 25k invested into a 40k car. That's a lot of money. The 456 seems to be a forgotten model. Not too many people know it's was even produced. That could be a HUGE plus in the future. I would hang on to it, at this point it's not even worth it to sell.

It would help to know if it's a GT or GTA. I thought the 6-speed manual GT was available in 1997, but Hagerty Insurance only indexes values for the '97 GTA. For a 456 GTA, $30-$40K is the correct range encompassing high mileage driver with a few flaws up to a show car. What colors are the interior/exterior. Pics?

John- The 456 GT was available throughout the production run, the 456 GTA in the US only from MY 97 on.

greg, keep in mind that these cars are now in the lowest part of their valuation curve. IF you can handle the carrying charges, then holding onto it for the next 10 years will yield dividends. my guess is that when it reaches 25+ years it will start to rise, and at 30+ years it will take off. the build number is low, and the shape is elegant, and if it is a stick shift you have a bonus.

if you cannot wait, then unfortunately it is at $40k best.

I'd hang on to it. I'm buying this 2001 456M GTA with 12k mile for $53k with the dash fixed and a fresh major service. The market just isn't strong enough to be a seller right now. My guess is that this dramatically under appreciated car will take off over the next 5-10 years. (Yes, I hear the laughter in the background)

Similar story: 7 years ago I bought a '74 Maserati Bora when they were out of favor. I'm glad I still have it.

Side note: Happy 50th Birthday to my wife of 27 years! It will be her car.
