    Any opinions?

    Experience?

I had a benz before and will prob. pick us an S class next yr. But, I thought this might be a nice driver, primarily for my wife to drive.

If you have a line on a nice one, let me know.

Great classic MB built like a tank. You can't beat the trraditional looks with the chrome bumpers. Last of great era in automotive history. Values will never drop or even go up as we go deeper into the plastic bumper route. I've had two with no regrets. Driving behind the wheel you feel a certain mechanical connection with the road which is absent from the 1990 w129 and up. Surpisingly there is a bit of scuttle shake given that it's a convertible design in the early 70's.

Nothing complex mechanically, easy to repair, but keep in mind that it's a 17 year old car so inevitably certian items will required servicing.

Btw, the one to get is in Signal Red with tan Plaomino interior, very stunning on the road although a bit flashy.

    here's mine 88 420SL (4.2 V8)

classy cars. MB parts cost even more than BMW's. Find a good independant. It will probally be more reliable than a new SL500 for the next 5 years.

You're looking at somewhat of a significant premium for an 89 since it was the last year of that series, when the 86-88 version 560SL had no noticeable differences, except for the fact the 86 model has the third brake light positioned differently on the rear trunk..

I currently have an 1987 560 SL with 60,000 original miles im looking to sell. Silver with blue. VERY VERY Sharp car i get comments everywhere i go! I originally planned on using it as a daily driver but i just felt bad putting so many miles on a classic car.

As long as you dont need to mess with the top a lot, it's a great car.

    Timeless, IMO.

Beautiful cars. Classic look and built when engineers still had a say in things.

    Thanks guys,

I'm moderately familiar with the model as my mom has an '84 380sl. I'm looking for the additional HP from the 560.

I had an old Benz in the '80s and had an independent service it. I just found their old brochure yesterday and gave them a call to see if they were still in business. Not only were they still in biz. but they remembered me..........good start.

I owned a red/tan 89 for about 3 years. It was a very good car and gave me no problems. Loved the seat and the engine. It may not be a rocket but the feel of the car is good. It's fast enough. I wish I still had mine.
